The City Council of the City of Flandreau, South Dakota, met in regular session on Monday, July 18th, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 1005 W. Elm Avenue, Flandreau, SD. He also stated that Scott Hargens has been hired as the hospital administrator. The City Administrator informed Council that the Mayor is at a disaster drill at the airport. He reminded Council that the August 1st Council Meeting will be held at The Secret Garden, the August 15th Council Meeting will be held at the Japanese Gardens, and a budget work session is scheduled for August 16th. He told Council that Tom Hansen should have cost estimates for the Crescent Street project soon. Motion by Pesall and seconded by Smith to approve the Administrative Reports. New Business: A bid opening was held on Tuesday, July 12th for the Airport Farmland Lease. Two bids were received as follows: Ben & Matt Waxdahl, Flandreau, SD $ 231.50 per acre Sunset Acres (Tony Evans), Pipestone, MN $ 155.00 per acre A motion was made by Sample and seconded by Tufty to award the Airport Farmland Lease for the 2017 growing season with the option to extend the contract through the 2020 growing season to the high bid of $231.50 per acre from Ben & Matt Waxdahl, Flandreau, SD. The following members voted aye: Pesall, Sample, Smith, Sutton and Tufty. Nays: None. Absent: Bjerke. Motion carried. A bid opening was held on Tuesday, July 12th for the Water & Wastewater Project, Phase 1A.
