DENR RECOGNIZES CITY OF FLANDREAU FOR DRINKING WATER COMPLIANCE PIERRE – The South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) announced today that the City of Flandreau public water system and the system’s operation specialists have been awarded a Drinking Water Certificate of Achievement Award.

“We cannot live without water; it is just that simple,” said DENR Secretary Steve Pirner.

“With these awards, DENR salutes the best-of-the-best drinking water systems and operation specialists who deliver water every day to their customers. The City of Flandreau has successfully met all of the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act all year long.”

The system’s operation specialists are Akamu Barboza, Larry Pitsenberger and Russell Kneebone.

To qualify for the Drinking Water Certificate of Achievement Award, public water systems and their system operations specialists had to meet all of the following requirements for 2015: Compliance monitoring and reporting, Drinking water standards and Certification requirements.

Under general supervision, this position assists in the operation and maintenance of the City’s electric facilities and equipment. Applicant should have knowledge of electrical theory, systems and equipment as well as the ability to analyze problems and draw logical conclusions.

Applicant must be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate and completion of Power Lineman Trade School or at least one year of line experience. Must have a valid South Dakota driver’s license and the ability to obtain a SD CDL within 60 days of hire.

Applicant must have Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene, Bachelors degree preferred. Current license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in South Dakota required.
