The City Council of the City of Flandreau, South Dakota, met in regular session on Monday, November 21st at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 1005 W. Elm Avenue, Flandreau, SD.

Mayor Sutton shared a thank-you note with Council from the Ludemann family for the floral arrangement sent in memory of Former Mayor Warren Lude mann. Sutton also reported that he, Administrator Cohl Turnquist, FDC Members Kelley Ramsdell, Jason Unger and Banner Engineer Rich Ukert met with the State via teleconference to present information on the Recreational Trail Project. The Mayor also stated he has had discussions with the Boys and Girls Club about their future expansion project. Sutton also expressed thanks to City Workers for hanging Christ mas decorations.

City Administrator Cohl Turnquist informed Council that IMEG Engineer Shane Waterman will bring forward a proposal for engineering services for the proposed water/sewer project at the next Council meeting on December 5th, 2022. Turnquist stated that Missouri River Energy is still looking for an ambassador from Flandreau and if any Flandreau citizens are interested, please contact the City Office. Admin istrator Turnquist noted the upcoming Holiday Parade which will take place on Sat urday, November 26th at 6:00 pm. Turnquist also shared that Rural Development has accepted the City’s bids and specs for the proposed fire station and the project is planned to be let out to bid the first week of January, 2023.

Motion by Fargen and seconded by Yeaton to approve the Administrative Reports. The following members voted aye: Ahlers, Ekern, Fargen, Tufty and Yeaton. Nays: None. Absent: Bjerke. Motion carried.

New Business: Motion by Tufty and seconded by Fargen to approve a step increase for Wyatt Resmen. POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Tribal President, the Chief Human Resources Officer (“CHRO”) is responsible for strategically managing and leading the Human Resources and employees benefit functions of the Tribe, the Tribe’s Health Clinic, and all Tribal Businesses. The CHRO plans and implements Human Resource and employee benefit policies, and updates them periodically. CHRO ensures that all organizational personnel actions are carried out properly, strictly adhering to tribal and federal laws, and ethical standards. The position also ensures that employee benefits are actively managed and compliant.

Possess a current and valid State driver's license with a record acceptable to FSST’s Insurance carrier.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in management or human resources plus four (4) years relevant experience preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree. Any combination of related education and/or related experience will be considered if the candidate possesses the demonstrated ability.

If you or anyone you know has lived in Moody County and served in any of the branches of the military, not just in Korea, but anywhere during these years: June 25, 1950 -July 27, 1953, please let us know. We are planning a special presentation on July 4th, 2023 to honor any living veterans of the Korean War, so we encour age you to reach out if you have any information that may be included.
