Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe Employment Opportunities Full-Time Grant Writer – Open Until Filled The Grant Writer is a member of the business development team, responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to identify, prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals. The Grant Writer will perform prospect research to evaluate prospects for grants. The Grant Writer will work with finance and program staff to gather the needed information to apply for funding and ensure reporting compliance with funders on all grant programs. The Grant Writer is responsible to single out and seek funds for existing and future Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe (FSST) projects. A Bachelor of Arts degree in business or pubic administration, community planning, or communications or combination of both education, training, and experience in tribal government, contract and grant writing, and community development proposals totaling three to five (3-5) years. Executive Assistant – Open Until Filled This position is under the direct supervision of the Tribal President and Executive Committee, the Executive Assistant will perform various complex secretarial duties required for the operation of the Office of the Executive Committee. Must have organizational and office skills, including competency with computers, peripherals, and the use of software such as MS Word, Excel, etc., and be able to type 50 words per minute accurately. Must have strong writing skills and knowledge of proper use of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and knowledge of technical report formats. Must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to be bonded for Notary Public duties. Education and training may be substituted for experience, if relevant to the position. Full-Time Police Officer –Open Until Filled Enforce federal, tribal ordinances and municipal law and order codes adopted by the tribe; provide criminal and civil regulatory enforcement through tribal court; patrol tribal lands; investigate crimes; traffic control; collect evidence; prepare reports; serve warrants and summons. Full-Time Public Relations/Communications Specialist-Open Until Filled The PR/CS promotes the image and activities of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe by consistently maintaining contact between the Tribe and the public. EGAN CITY MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING October 30, 2023 The Board of Trustees of the City of Egan, South Dakota met in special session on October 30, 2023 at Egan City Hall, 110 W 3rd Street, Egan, SD. Present: Board of Trustee members Cody Chamblin, Nancy Hansen, Dana Walters and Jerome Olson. City residents; Denise Hollanen, Mike Hein, Norm and Donna Kuehl, Barb Warborg, John Steinhauer, Joy Chamley, Amanda Walters, and Randy Roiger Meeting was called to order by Chairman Chamblin. Motion by Olson, second by Hansen, to approve the agenda. All present voted “aye.” Public Comment: •John Steinhauer asked if ball field outfield fence was remaining and questioned the approval of additional work and payment to Asphalt Pros’s. •Joy Chamley reminded the board that there is New Member training, Finance Officer training and Election school training that is offered by the SDML •Barb Warborg stated city is to follow codified law with purchasing and executive session •Norm Kuehl requested an update on the Lagoon project. Kelly reviewed notes from conversation with Stockwell Engineering’s Jon Brown. She will also check with SDML to find out if those funds can be used for lagoon projects not rip rap specific New Business: •City of Egan new purchasing manual given to board member for review prior to next normal meeting November 15th, 2023 •Resignation of board member given by Brad Judstra approved. Chamblin stated to all present there is now a board seat available. •Maintenance Department o Approval given to Maintenance Manager to use city credit card for reasonable purchases • Motion by Walters, second by Hansen to place programmable key code locks in place of current padlocks on city property. All present voted “aye” •Motion by Walters, second by Hansen to get 1 load of Gravel/Sand mix from Moody County. Hansen stated will need to obtain quotes for future loads. An engineer from IMEG will also be present at the first council meeting in December to give an update on the planning stages of the water and sewer project. Turnquist informed Council that the City Office will be closed on Friday, November 10th in observance of Veteran’s Day and November 23rd and 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
