Council President reported on progress being made on the 1st Avenue project and discussed the last Flandreau Development Corporation meeting where two board members resigned. The Council President then asked Scott Ramsdell if he wanted to say a few words about FDC. Mr. Ramsdell indicated that some current board members have never seen by-laws nor do they understand how much money they have. With what is happening in Flandreau now is a good time to increase membership. The City and FDC should be looking for an economic development director. A good economic development director will help move the City in the right direction. Mr. Ramsdell urged the City Council to consider using greater than expected sales tax dollars to fund an economic development position.

The City Administrator reported that Todd Kays at First District has been contacted about doing a comprehensive wage and benefit survey for the City to be used in conjunction with the 2019 budget process. A new schedule for the water and wastewater project was reviewed with Council and it was noted that there will be two zoning public hearings and ordinances on the agenda for the next Council meeting.

Finally the City Administrator reported that Ted Haeder of First District has submitted the City’s grant application for the use of Hazard Mitigation Funds.
