The Council President reported that he has been receiving a lot of questions and good comments from downtown area business owners regarding the Downtown Streetlight Project. He also commented on the nice job Brookings Register did on the 2nd publication of Flandreau’s Community Guide. The City Administrator informed Council that the Brookings Register would like to update the Community Guide annually. The consensus of Council was to update the brochure annually. The Streetlight Project is underway and the feedback has been positive. The Hardin Park Sign and the historic marker honoring Governor Janklow have both been delivered to the City Office. Once the Mayor returns, he will determine a location for the historic marker and both signs will be installed. A representative from SD Game, Fish, and Parks will be here on Thursday to discuss a 50-50 matching grant application that the City submitted to them for new playground equipment at the Broad Avenue Trailer Park. Temporary parking locations and garbage pickup issues have been addressed for residents unable to access their properties from 1st Avenue during the water and sewer construction currently taking place between Veterans Street and Industrial Street. Motion by Smith and seconded by Pesall to approve the Administrative Reports. The following members voted aye: Pesall, Smith, Sutton, and Tufty. Nays: None. Absent: Bjerke and Sample. Motion carried. Chief Krull brought one of the fire department’s new grass rigs to show Council. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF FLANDREAU, SOUTH DAKOTA, TO ASSESS THE COSTS OF SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, pursuant to Title 8 of the Flandreau Municipal Ordinances, the City of Flandreau replaced or repaired sidewalks and incurred costs against the properties legally described as follows:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Title 5 of the Flandreau Municipal Ordinances, the City of Flandreau mowed and abated nuisances and incurred costs against the properties legally described as follows:
Lots Eleven and Twelve (11 & 12), in the Southeast Quarter (SE ¼) of Section Twenty-eight (28), Township One Hundred Seven (107) North, Range Forty-eight (48) West of the 5th Principal Meridian, Moody County, South Dakota, in the amount of $2,937.60;
