Mayor Sutton told Council he has been in contact with Brenda Red Wing, the BIA contact with the Crescent Street Bridge Project. Red Wing told Sutton there would be no issues by signing Resolution 2022-14, as the BIA will pro vide the funding needed to replace the Crescent Street Bridge. Mayor Sutton also explained that he and Administrator Turnquist had met with the Execu tive Council for the FSST Tribe, along with FDC members, and discussed the potential bike path funding and are currently waiting for a letter of supportfrom the tribe.
City Administrator Cohl Turnquist reported to Council that he has been in contact with the Architect for the Fire Station project and that the current plans are under review and he is hopeful the bid process will be taking place soon. Turnquist stated that there will be an informational meeting for the public on Wednesday, September 21st at 5:00 pm at the Flandreau Commu nity Center regarding the Flandreau Development Corporation’s potential bike path project. Turnquist encourages residents to come to the meeting to find out more information. Administrator Turnquist met with the airportconsultant selection committee and informed Council that the committee selected Helms and Associates for their consultant on airport projects. Turn quist also reported that the City of Flandreau has received a Bronze Level Safety Award from South Dakota Public Alliance Association, which will be presented at the South Dakota Municipal League’s annual conference inWatertown in October.

Further discussion on the 2023 Budget occurred and Mayor Sutton encour aged the Council to move the $20,000 golf course funding from the Parks Department to the Community Partnership Budget, which would allow the funds to be unrestricted. He also suggested adding an additional $10,000 to assist the Golf Course Board with hiring a full-time Greens Keeper with benefits. Alderman Bjerke agreed with the Mayor’s suggestion, and stated the expectation of the additional funds is to assist the Golf Board in offer ing a competitive employment package, including benefits, for a full-time Greens Keeper. Alderman Fargen asked if the Golf Board was agreeable to this proposal and Mayor Sutton informed the Council that the Golf Board is agreeable and appreciative of the additional funds.
Motion by Bjerke and seconded by Tufty to amend Ordinance 611, 2023 Ap propriation Ordinance to add an additional $10,000 for Golf Course funding to the Community Partnership Budget. The $30,000 funds for the golf course would be a subsidy from the City, which is reviewed on a yearly basis, with funds to be unrestricted and used to assist with hiring a full-time Greens Keeper for the Golf Course. Qualifica1ons: Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Water Resources of Environmental Science, Chemistry, closely related area of study. This posi1on requires a water resource educa1on background knowledge and understanding of relate scien1fic fields. Must have experience in monitoring streams, including maintaining records of field data. Must be able to work independently without constant supervision, possess good public rela1ons skills and have good oral and wriRen communica1on skills. Must be proficient in using a computer and experience with the following programs: Word Processing, spreadsheets, Desktop Publishing, and GIS database. Must possess a valid South Dakota Driers License.

This property consists of approximately 80 acres. According to FSA information, this farm has been operated as part of a larger 160 acre parcel, thus the FSA information is estimated and is subject to an FSA reconstitution and County Committee approval, although this parcel is estimated to contain approx. 74.34 acres of cropland with a pro jected 35.36 acre corn base with a 122 bu. PLC yield and a 38.56 acre soybean base with a 33 bu. PLC yield. Presently the non-crop acres consist of a lowland pocket in the SW corner of the farm, waterway, drainage & roads.
