Building Maintenance Specialist Building Automation System
Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time Building Maintenance Specialist – Building Automation System (HVAC controls). This position is responsible for the daily operation of the building automation system as well as maintaining and installing new systems compatible with our Siemens Apogee system. The incumbent will aid the facilities administration in creating estimates for new installations of HVAC equipment and necessary control devices. Assisting the facilities administration in tracking the service and inspection dates while maintaining a PM database for the university air handlers, air compressors, HVAC pumps, chillers, A/C units, HVAC damper and valves, and hydronic heating systems. This position will also be part of the operation team for the steam heating boilers. Once hired the employee will respond to work orders for failed equipment in a timely manner, track project time, effort, and expense as well as repair a variety of equipment and perform preventative maintenance on equipment on a specific schedule. The successful applicant must possess an electrical, plumbing or refrigeration license, preferable in the State of South Dakota, experience with building automation systems and HVAC sytems is preferred, be able to follow written and oral instructions, operate required equipment, have a working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook, work with students, staff and the public courteously, work independently, lift up to 50 pounds regularly and maintain a valid driver’s license. Following another conference call with Rural Development, First District and Clark Engineering, the City is accepting bids for the next phase of the water and sewer line replacement project; refer to the maps in the Council packet for more information. He also indicated Council should refer to the information provided in their packet regarding the change in monthly utility bills.
