BUILDING MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST - PLUMBER Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time Building Maintenance Specialist specializing in plumbing. This position is responsible for maintaining existing plumbing, heating and cooling systems on the facilities and installing new systems according to state code. The incumbent will aid the facilities administration in creating estimates for new installations of HVAC equipment and plumbing systems, troubleshoot, repair and upgrade plumbing systems. This position is also responsible for replacing and/or maintaining the plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, showers, urinals) on campus and using an Excel database to assist the facilities administration in tracking the service and inspection dates for the university air handlers, air compressors, HVAC pumps, chillers, A/C units, water softeners, Food Service equipment and hydronic heating systems etc. This position will also be part of the operation team for the steam heating boilers. Once hired the employee will respond to work orders for failed equipment in a timely manner, track project time, effort, and expense. This position will also be responsible for repairing and servicing a variety of equipment which includes performing preventative maintenance on equipment on a specified schedule. The successful applicant must possess a Plumber’s License, preferable in the State of South Dakota and have 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience. You should also be able to follow written and oral instructions, operate required equipment, and have a working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook. This position will work with students, staff and the public courteously, work independently, lift up to 50 pounds regularly and maintain a valid driver’s license. Ability to work independently; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; deal tactfully and patiently with clients; establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data; use initiative and judgment; maintain effective working relationships with other related agencies; professionals and citizen groups; perform and record total physical examination; obtain vaginal, cervical, urethral and rectal cultures, papanicolaou smears, and other laboratory specimens appropriate. Skill in diagnostic procedures for diseases and the drug therapy needed for treatment of these medical conditions. Must be proficient in the use of medical and laboratory equipment. The City Council of the City of Flandreau, South Dakota, met in regular session on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 1005 W. Elm Avenue, Flandreau, SD. Present: Mayor Mark Bonrud. Aldermen: Brad Bjerke, Bob Pesall, Bart Sample, Ron Smith, Dan Sutton, and Karen Tufty. Absent: None. Also present were Donald Whitman and Tammy Pitsenberger, City of Flandreau; Paul Lewis, City Attorney; Brian Bergjord, Bruce Clark, Danny Rose, Don Ulwelling, Planning & Zoning Commission; Karen Billam and Connie Wendell, Cemetery Committee Appointments; and Hannah Koeller (6:34 p.m.), Moody County Enterprise. Absent: None. Motion carried. A Joint Public Hearing with the Planning and Zoning Commission was held. There was no public input. Don Ulwelling stated that the Planning and Zoning Commission met and all the members were in agreement to recommend that Council adopt Ordinance 578 to allow businesses in the HC Zoning District to sell certain live farm animals. Alderman Sutton requested the hospital report in the minutes from December 19th, be corrected to read Avera Flandreau Hospital and Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal Clinic Administrators/Staff have met to share ideas, services each offer to patients, and to discuss possible ways that they may be able to work together in serving our community healthcare needs.
