Who’s Who... in East County

In these fast-paced, stressful times, many of us strive to find the best solutions to maintain a balanced and healthier lifestyle.

Dhyanyoga Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the purist form of yoga in order to help you go within and know yourself, reach your source, and ultimately find your internal truth. In addition to regularly scheduled classes in yoga and meditation, the Center offers workshops and retreats on such topics as Kundalini Maha Yoga, Ayurveda, psychology and spirituality, vegetarian cooking and healing arts.

Other amenities the Dhyanyoga Center offers is free use of yoga mats, blankets, and props. They also have an outdoor café with free tea service, and a yoga shop. The yoga shop sells everything from oils and incense to scarves, yoga mats, and spiritually inspired jewelry. If you feel like getting pampered, then there’s the Healing Cottage where you can get a massage or facial.

All of the instructors at the Dhyanyoga Center are highly skilled, compassionate, and fully vested in helping people to relax, release, strengthen, and grow. As the number of yoga and meditation classes continue to grow, they hope to offer more classes and continue to attract talented Kirtan artists such as Jai Uttal and Wah! to perform on a regular basis. Additionally, the Center has a by-donation community yoga class on Saturday mornings and bi-annual food drives for their local communities. Every aspect of the Center’s activities is in support of the health and well-being of body, mind, and soul.

In 2015 the Federal Reserve Bank of New York released a report entitled “Insolvency After the 2005 Bankruptcy Reform Act,” which sheds light on the choices a person should make when dealing with financial adversity. The report studied data from 1999 to 2011 and compared the credit scores for insolvent borrowers that file bankruptcy to the scores of those that do not. The earnings in these plans grow tax-free and you can then make tax-free withdrawals to pay for qualified college expenses. The account owner controls the funds (not the beneficiary), and the contributions limits are high – typically between $200,000 to $500,000 depending on the plan you choose. But consider ... You cannot use 529 funds for K-12 expenses and you’ll pay a 10% penalty plus taxes on any money withdrawn for purposes other than qualified college expenses. The penalty is only on the earnings portion of the withdrawal. The 10% penalty is waived with death, disability, and scholarship (of the beneficiary).
