Construction, like all business, has risks and rewards. Most licensed contractors do good work and complete jobs even if unexpected events mean the job is no longer profitable.

When a job goes bad, really bad, the contractor’s license can be in jeopardy.

The purpose of a contractor’s license is twofold: first, to establish a standard of competence and second, to create a system of accountability.

Two of the biggest problems contractors encounter are difficult customers and injury. Unfortunately, if you work with the public you soon learn some customers have unrealistic expectations. In fact, some are never satisfied. Construction requires the use of heavy equipment, power tools, lifting, cutting, and climbing.

Contra Costa County Public Auto Auction When it’s time to acquire a vehicle, price and quality are undoubtedly the most important considerations. Buyers can benefit from purchasing through a public auction because of the substantial savings opportunity combined with a vast selection of good-condition makes and models to choose from. Contra Costa County Public Auto Auction (CCCPAA) of Pittsburg publicly sells quality used cars, trucks, SUVs, minivans, RVs, and travel trailers on the first Saturday of every other month.

CCCPAA vehicles are smog certified and without salvage titles. Obtained through banks, credit unions, non-profit organizations, city accounts, consignors, and leasing companies, all cars come with a third-party history and CARFAX report.

Inventory varies from auction to auction; consumers can select from older vehicles of the 1980s to newer models. If you are on the lookout for a unique and hardto-find ride, an auction may be the best way to unearth it. Rare finds may have a limited number of bidders and often result in considerable savings.

To help potential buyers fully understand the auction process, the company’s website itemizes and explains the steps in detail from start to finish. Buyers are instructed to realistically determine their

price limit and stick to their budget when bidding. Financing must be approved prior to auction, and CCCPAA is pleased to assist buyers in obtaining financial backing. Applicants can call a week in advance for an appointment or simply visit the website to print an easy Credit Pre-Approval form. Once all information is provided, they will begin working with financial partners to create a lending plan that is practical for the customer.

Open seven days a week, business hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and weekends from 10 to 5. A vehicle catalog is available online for new arrivals and also permits viewing of autos that sold at the previous auction.

CCCPAA customers have an advantage over online auction patrons because vehicles can be visually examined in person, and they are encouraged to bring a mechanic along to inspect their choices.

The lot is open to the public for preview on Friday (day prior to auction) from 12 to 5 p.m. and Auction Saturday from 9 to10 a.m.

To insure that buyers know precisely what they are purchasing, the staff is always available to answer questions and facilitate in the selection process. Shoppers are able to inspect and start the vehicles and test all mechanical options such as heating, air conditioning, power seats, locks, and windows. The auction atmosphere is fun and family oriented and people of all ages are welcome. The audience is seated comfortably under two “Big Top” tents, giving it a circus-like feel that kids enjoy.

Attendees have the opportunity to win free cars and cash while participating in community service programs such as the Annual Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive & Auto Auction, December’s Holiday Toys For Tots & Auto Auction, the Wounded Warrior Project, and many other worthy fundraisers.
