Weekly Win Women’s Texas Pinehurst Gas Prices (November 9, 2020) Texas gas prices have fallen 2.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.77/g today, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations. Gas prices in Texas are 10.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 49.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $1.46/g today while the most expensive is $2.49/g, a difference of $1.03/g. The lowest price in the state today is $1.46/g while the highest is $2.49/g, a difference of $1.03/g.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $ 2 . 0 9 / g t o d a y. T h e national average is down 8.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 53.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

“As expected, previous weakness in oil has continued to translate into falling gasoline prices nearly nationwide as motorists cast their ballots last week, but the six week trend could reverse on optimism that President-elect Biden may move quickly to get organized and Sen. Majority Leader McConnell has said stimulus is high on his agenda, aiding the economy and oil demand," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.

"As of late Sunday, a barrel of West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up over 8% compared to just last Monday, a solid rally that may eventually halt the decline in gasoline prices, should the optimism continue even against a backdrop of a continued global rise in coronavirus cases. It remains challenging to predict how the Presidential transition may occur, and if it drags the economy down, I could see pessimism and lower prices return, but for now, it appears that a solid dose of optimism may soon drive prices up."

Briefly: Teammates Caitlyn Cassity of Katy and Meghan Moake of Houston, posted a fourover-par 76 Final Round to finish at five-over-par 149 and win the 2020 Women’s Texas Pinehurst. Cassity and Moake credit similarities in their game for allowing them to work well as a team. Suggestions For Mindful Eating: A Can of Tuna Food for Thought Diana Anderson

After a long day, a delicious dinner has the power to turn your mood around. Healthy and delicious go hand in hand in these recipes. They are very different so I suggest committing to make them ahead of time as some of the ingredients might not (yet) be staples in your pantry or fridge.

Here are three creative weekday tuna recipes that are definitely more elevated than your everyday tunasalad sammy. But, they’re also super easy to execute and take minimal prep time—perfect for busy days.

For all three tasty-yetattainable tuna recipes, I suggest you buy skipjack tuna. Kroger carries it in a can so I would think it’s generally available specifically labeled although most tuna not labeled albacore is probably skipjack. The reason is that it is a smaller tuna and smaller means it has eaten less over the course of its

life resulting in the lowest possible mercury contamination of all tuna.

Albacore could have three times the mercury of skipjack. However, you must balance this fact with the taste and texture. It is often a darker, more fishy tasting tuna and if you like the lighter taste and firmer texture choose albacore.

Especially for the first recipe.

Tuna Farro Bowl + Lemon Tahini Sauce Serves 2 to 4 Ingredients 2 cans (5oz, ) canned tuna, drained and flaked with a fork ½ cup uncooked farro (a grain from Italy) – can substitute another whole grain ½ tsp sea salt 1-2 cranks freshly ground black pepper, plus more to taste 1-2 tsp extra-virgin olive oil 2-3 cups of cooked or roasted veggies of choice ( broccoli, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, fennel, carrots, cucumbers, mushrooms, tomatoes, or cucumbers) – great use of leftovers.

Fresh herbs to taste ( whatever you may have chives, dill, or basil)

1 watermelon radish or 2-3 red radishes, sliced thin 1 tsp thinly sliced scallions 1 Tbsp sesame oil, or sub extra-virgin olive oil Lemon tahini sauce, to taste (see below) 1. Cook farro according to package directions, season with salt and pepper, and drizzle with olive oil.

2. Serve in bowls, and add the roasted veggies, radishes, and scallions.

3. Add the tuna, season with salt and pepper, and top with a squeeze of lemon juice, sesame oil, and lemon tahini sauce to taste.

Lemon Tahini Sauce Ingredients – blend all in blender or food processor 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (approximately 1 lemon) 1 tsp sherry vinegar 2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil ¼ cup smooth, liquid tahini 1 Tbsp white miso 1 tsp Dijon or whole grain mustard ½ tsp pure maple syrup ¼ cup filtered water 1 tsp granulated garlic Small pinch of kosher salt 2-3 cranks freshly ground black pepper, plus more to taste This recipe is really nice

served in a shallow bowl to two minutes longer.

3. Add the apple cider with all the items separated. vinegar and cook until almost gone (1 to 2 Tomato + Tuna Soup minutes). Add the broth and Serves 4 to 6 cook for 25 minutes on Ingredients medium.

1 garlic clove, sliced flaked with a fork thin 1 Tbsp apple cider 1 lb. fusilli, bow ties, or vinegar shells, or preferred pasta 1 can (28 oz.) tomato shape puree 1 can full-fat coconut 1 can (28 oz.) tomato milk 1 can (14.5 oz.) canned cubed 1 can (32 oz.) chicken or pumpkin 1 tsp granulated garlic veggie broth 1 Tbsp miso paste 10 oz. baby spinach 1. In a large pot, like a 1-3 drops hot sauce 1/16 tsp freshly grated Dutch oven, add olive oil and diced onion. Cook on nutmeg (optional) medium low for 5 to 7 15 oz. fresh ricotta 1 cup kale, thinly sliced minutes or until slightly golden and translucent. in ribbons Season with salt and freshly ? tsp kosher salt, plus ground pepper. more for the breadcrumbs 3-5 cranks freshly 2. Add carrot and celery and cook for 5 to 7 minutes. ground pepper 2 tsp coconut oil or Add garlic and cook for one

preferred fat to grease the baking pan 2 Tbsp melted butter (non-dairy also works) ½ c u p P a n k o breadcrumbs ¼ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. 2. Cook pasta according to the directions, shortening the cook time by one to two minutes, so pasta remains al dente. Drain pasta, leaving 1-2 Tbsp pasta water in pot, and return pasta to the pot.

3. Stir in coconut milk, chicken broth, canned pumpkin, granulated garlic, hot sauce, nutmeg, and ricotta.

4. Fold in the tuna (keep it chunky, if possible).

Grease baking dish or castiron enamel pot, then add in the mixture.

7. In a separate dish, melt the butter, add the Panko breadcrumbs, season with salt, and fold in the parmesan cheese. Pour breadcrumb mixture on top of the pasta and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes (check regularly, so as not to burn the topping).

Apparently during the election process there seem to be somewhat numerous claims recorded by the television news services including FoxNews.

There were many claims of where the state and federal laws were violated in the various states. Although, at the Democrat ballot counting facilities – Did you get that folks – Democrat ballot counting facilities? Who the hell gave the Democrats the authority to control the entire election process in all states in this country this year???

Although the election facility moderators, and local and state officials claim that there were no irregularities, there was no violation of law and all of the processes of counting were absolutely legal!

To the contrary, although it is claimed by many that there was no evidence of irregularities, the following are some of the claims throughout the “Battleground states” that appear to be valid to a point in law. Numerous of these claims, whether true or false, were expressed, identified and presented by the various multiple communication services throughout the nation.

Many of these include: Detroit voter roll lawsuit filed by interest legal foundation; 4,788 Duplicate registrations; 32,590 more registered voters than eligible voters; 2,503 Dead people registered; One voter born in 1823.

In various states no ballot counter watchers allowed and or placed 25 feet back from the counting line.

There are numerous other complaints but some of the real questionable wild complaints were: 103,000+ ballots received from a small town in Michigan all for Joe Biden and not one vote for Donald Trump. Do you

think that is odd or mathematically happening? How about 200,000+ ballots coming in to I think Pennsylvania for Joe Biden and none for Donald Trump. As weird as it is how about the mayor of a small town in Michigan, noted for high support for Donald Trump, using the police to confiscate all the ballots and was last seen driving out of town?

Unfortunately, at the same time that they are exercising their franchise, there are others out there who are taking advantage of the vulnerabilities in our system to try to steal their vote or dilute the value of their vote.

Though many on the left downplay the threats to the security and integrity of the electoral process, such fraud really does occur, jeopardizing free and fair elections for the American people.

The Heritage Election Fraud Database showcases a sampling of close to 1,300 proven instances of election fraud. Yet, many other cases go unreported and other potential cases are t investigated or prosecuted.

The left is actively working to undermine the integrity of our elections.

now. Learn more now >> There has been a rash of recent arrests around the country. Although those who have been charged are entitled to a presumption of innocence, these cases illustrate the types of fraud that have occurred and can occur that threaten our democratic system.

In New Hampshire, Attorney General Gordon MacDonald announced an indictment against a woman for allegedly voting in the town of Derry during the 2018 general election despite residing in Washington D.C., not New Hampshire.

The indictment says she submitted a false voter registration form and then voted using an absentee ballot. In Hooksett, New Hampshire, Michael Lewis has been charged with illegally voting in the 2016 general election even though he is a resident of Georgia, where he was arrested at the request of New Hampshire authorities.

The Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, run by registered Democrat Ed Naile, discovered that Lewis used the state’s same-day voter registration law in Hooksett to illegally register and vote.

And those are not the only recent cases from the Granite State.

Vincent Marzello was arrested for voting twice in the 2016 general election in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, once as himself and then again under the name of a woman, Helen Elisabeth Ashley.

In California, a man by the name of Caesar Peter Abutin was charged with three counts of felony voter fraud. Despite Abutin’s mother passing away in 2006, he voted under her name multiple times between October 2012 and November 2014, in addition to casting ballots under his own name.

These cases demonstrate how sometimes it can take years for the evidence in election fraud cases to come to fruition and for the potential fraudsters to face justice.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that election fraud cases often involve absentee ballots.

The danger posed to voters by such ballots, which are voted outside the supervision of election officials and outside the observation of poll watchers in unsecure settings, is shown by a video that has just surfaced from Escondido, California.

A local resident, David Sprouse, filmed an individual walking through his neighborhood last week stealing mail—including absentee ballots—from his home and other houses.

And the Virginia State Board of Elections had to send out a press release warning voters that six R i c h m o n d - a r e a m a i lboxes—which may have contained absentee ballots—were broken into over the first weekend in October.

Other threats to the security of voting by mail are coming to light. Take Hudson County, New Jersey. A postal worker was arrested for discarding mail after an investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice found more than 1,800

Fortunately, these ballots were recovered and forwarded to their intended recipients.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident.

Thomas Cooper, a postal worker, pleaded guilty to obscuring, crossing out, and changing at least five party affiliations on absentee ballot request forms back in July during the West Virginia primary.

In Manatee County, Florida, Larry Wiggins, a registered Democrat, was arrested for requesting an absentee ballot for his late wife, who passed away in 2018. Though Wiggins claims he was simply “testing the system,” he is now facing third-degree felony charges.

In Texas, four people, including a Gregg County c o m m i s s i o n e r, w e r e arrested last month in connection with their alleged involvement in a vote-harvesting scheme that was uncovered by the state Attorney General’s Office.[D1] Commissioner Shannon Brown, Marlena Jackson, Charlie Burns, and DeWayne Ward are facing more than 130 felony charges, including organizing an illgal voteharvesting scheme, illegal voting, fraudulent use of absentee ballot applications, unlawful possession of absentee ballots, and election fraud in connection with the 2018 general election, which Brown won by only five votes.

Another case out of the Lone Star State involves a mayoral candidate for the city of Carrollton. Zul Mirza Mohamed is alleged to have forged at least 84 voter registration forms for unwitting residents of Denton County, and then obtained absentee ballots in their names without their knowledge using a virtual mailbox and a false identity.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office states that at the time of his arrest, Mohamed was completing more fraudulent mail-in ballot applications.

There are also multiple reports of problems being caused by election officials using inaccurate, errorfilled voter registration lists to mail out absentee ballots. Those include: M A German journalist who reports that he received three ballots at his residence in Washington, D.C., for the previous tenant, who moved five years ago; the landlady, who now lives in Puerto

Rico; and the landlady’s deceased husband.

New Jersey residents across the state reporting that they have received absentee ballots for their deceased relatives.

Clerical errors that sent 1,400 Virginia voters two mail-in ballots for the general election.

Close to 100,000 New York City voters receiving mail-in ballots with incorrect names and addresses.

An acquaintance of one of the writers living in Washington, D.C., who received five ballots in the mail—two for him, one for his roommate, and two for individuals who haven’t lived at his address for years. Those ballots can be seen here: This summary of recentdoesn’t even cover the 1,000 voters referred to law enforcement officials in Georgia for voting twice in that state’s June primary (once in person and a second time with an absentee ballot); or the former Democratic congressman and erstwhile political consultant indicted in Philadelphia on charges of bribing an election official to stuff the ballot box with fraudulent votes in multiple elections; or the illegal aliens indicted in North Carolina for illegally registering and voting.

While many on the left dismiss these threats and insist that voting by mail has no potential for fraud, or that other types of fraud just don’t happen, these stories continue to break, dispelling that narrative.

These cases should be investigated and prosecuted, and reforms should be initiated that remedy the vulnerabilities in our voter registration and election system that will prevent and deter these types of actions from occurring in the future.

No matter who the American people elect, it should be done in a fair, free, and secure process.

Election fraud is already a problem. Soon it could be a crisis. But election fraud is not the only threat to the integrity of our election system.

State Supported Living Centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Brunner submitted voter registration applications for 67 residents without

their signature or effective consent, while purporting to act as their agent. Under Texas law, only a parent, spouse or child who is a qualified voter of the county may act as an agent in registering a person to vote, after being appointed to do so by that person.

None of the SSLC patients gave effective consent to be registered, and a number of them have been declared totally mentally incapacitated by a court, thereby making them ineligible to vote in Texas.

From eons back through time, men and women have prayed to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Then Jesus came to earth to expand upon the importance of praying to the Father, Elohim.

Actually, there’s no better way to reach God than through humbly coming before Him with sincere and heartfelt petitions in time set aside especially for Him. I’ve

spoken with many lately, about setting aside their special place to pray. Some have closets, corners, or even special rooms. Some go outside as well as inside. No matter where the place is, it’s where we can express our deepest needs and even worship. He already knows what those needs are. He just wants to hear us ask Him for help. Then we can thank and praise Him for what He has done for us.

God truly wants a peaceful life for each of us. We don’t have to be anxious or live in fear of the future. God has us covered. Even knowing that, it is still good to petition God for our deepest needs. At the end of our prayers, we

can always end with this: “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…” Matthew 6:10. At that point, we can realize our petition has been heard by the God of this universe, and so we wait on His plans to be done. And His plans are always the best for us. And we must leave some quiet time for Him to answer us.

The times we live in may be turbulent, but if we stand before Him calmly, expectant, and listening for His answers, we will know He’s fighting for us and

our greatest needs.

What an amazing God! How grateful we are for His protection over us.

We do need to be watchful of satan trying to prevent us from praying. Don’t fall for that trap. Let God fill th at h u n g er in o u r hearts for His word and His Presence.

“Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of

NOTICE OF RATE CHANGE REQUEST On October 19, 2020, Entergy Texas, Inc. (“ETI”) filed an application to amend its Transmission Cost Recovery Factor (“TCRF”) with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (“Commission” or “PUC”). The application was assigned PUC Docket No. 51406. The proposed TCRF is requested in accordance with the Public Utility Regulatory Act § 36.209 and 16 TAC § 25.239. A TCRF allows a utility to recover its reasonable and necessary costs that have occurred since the end of the test year in the utility's last base rate case for transmission infrastructure improvement and changes in wholesale transmission charges to the electric utility under a tariff approved by a federal regulatory authority. In its requested amendment, ETI is seeking recovery of costs for transmission capital investments it incurred from July 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020. ETI also seeks to recover approved transmission charges that are not otherwise being recovered through rates.

The proposed TCRF as amended would result in total TCRF retail revenues of approximately $51.0 million, which is $31.6 million in incremental annual TCRF revenue beyond ETI's currently effective TCRF. This $31.6 million amount would be a 3.3% increase in ETI's annualized non-fuel revenue requirement as compared to revenues approved in Docket No. 48371, ETI's most recent base rate case, and a 2.1% increase in ETI's overall annualized revenue requirement including fuel costs as compared to such revenues as approved in Docket No. 48371. The impact of the rate change on various customer classes will vary from the overall impact described in this notice.

ETI has requested that an intervention deadline and hearing request deadline of November 30, 2020 be established, and that, if no hearing is requested, the Commission adopt an order approving the proposed TCRF at or before its currently-scheduled open meeting on January 14, 2021. All customers in ETI's Texas retail rate classes are affected by this request.

IT’S JUST DUCKY

By Cheryl Conley, TWRC Wildlife Center Unless you suffer from ornithophobia (a fear of birds) or anatidaephobia (the fear that you are being watched by a duck), you probably enjoy watching ducks. It’s a way to get us outside to enjoy nature, it’s free and it’s year-round.

Besides, they’re cute, especially the babies. It’s so touching to see ducklings paddling like crazy to keep up with Mom. How do they know which duck is Mom? Before they hatch, d u c k l i n g s h e a r their mother from inside the shell and then, when they hatch, they know who their mother is.

You’ll likely see several different species of ducks in our area but here are two species that are very common.

You will more than likely see Muscovy ducks in area ponds and lakes.

The males have fleshy red canuncles (warty bumps) on the face and at the base of the bill. Females have smaller caruncles or have none at all.

Muscovies are not native except in three Texas counties near the Mexican

border. With the exception of these three counties, Muscovy ducks are considered invasive which means they can take over habitats, can stress the natural ecosystems and even eradicate native plants and animals. They are prolific breeders and it doesn’t take long for their populations to increase dramatically driving away native species.

Feral Muscovy ducks have become a real problem for many neighborhoods in and around the Houston area. They wander into yards and leave their waste droppings everywhere including sidewalks, porches, driveways, patios, on cars and even in pools.

They can destroy landscaping while foraging for food.

They can be a hazard for drivers as they waddle across neighborhood streets. Some report that the ducks are aggressive.

In November of 2019, controversy arose in Pearland when city officials gave the go-ahead for residents to legally kill Muscovy ducks on their own property. They had

become a nuisance and many homeowners were complaining.

On the other hand, some are happy to have Muscovies around. They eat algae and weeds in ponds, flies, roaches, ants, spiders, small fishes, reptiles and slugs. They also eat mosquitos. For this reason, they are very valuable in keeping unwanted insect populations down. They are “dappling” ducks which means they float and tip themselves forward, butts up in the air, to grab insects, small fish, etc.

MALLARDS Mallard ducks are the most common ducks in North America. The male duck has a bright green head, yellow beak, a lightcolored body and dark brown chest. The female is much less colorful and is light brown with dark brown mottling from the neck down.

Mallards begin pairing up in the fall but courtship can extend into early spring. Generally speaking, they are monogamous.

I say “generally” because males will engage in “forced copulations.”

Several males will chase a female and then forcefully mate with her.

Mallards are omnivores with 2/3 of their diet consisting of plant matter and 1/3 animal protein.

They eat small fish, snails, moths, flies, bugs, grass, seeds, grains and fruits.

They are dappling ducks, too, just like the Muscovy. * Ducks eat gravel,

small stones and sand.

However, it’s not because they’re hungry. The rocks are stored in the gizzard and help break down food. * Ducks have a field of vision of 340 degrees and can see up close and far away simultaneously. They also see in color. * Ducks have no blood vessels or nerves in their feet so their feet don’t feel the cold in icy waters. * Ducks normally don’t fly over 4,000 feet in the air when they migrate.

However, they have the capability of flying much higher. A jet once struck a Mallard at 21,000 feet!

This is the highest recorded flight of any duck. * Preening is a method used to clean the feathers of dirt, dust and parasites.

When they preen, they also spread a waxy oil on their feathers making them waterproof. * Male ducks are drakes; females are hens and babies are ducklings.

Before you grab that loaf of bread to go feed the ducks, please choose a healthier option. Bread has little nutritional value. This applies to popcorn, chips, crackers, donuts and cereal as well. Ducks can fill up on these and not eat more nutritional foods. Uneaten bread can get moldy and cause ducks to get sick. It can also add to algae growth affecting water quality. Ducklings can get “angel wing” by eating too much bread. This is a condition causing the wings to point out and making it impossible for

Many city parks and subdivision ponds and lakes forbid the feeding of ducks so make sure you check.

Howard Hughes Presents Appreciation Lunch to Frontline Personnel at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital The Howard Hughes Corporation, through its HHCares initiative, recently donated and delivered 250 boxed lunches prepared with care from Embassy Suites by Hilton at Hughes Landing to frontline personnel at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.
