RobynBloem,aVictim Services Specialist with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, was on hand to remember her daughter, Lindsay Hoover 19 who was returning home from a prayerservicewhenshewas
hit, killing her and her unborn child. Lindsay was eightmonthspregnant,buta driverundertheinfluenceof drugsendedtheirlives.
“My daughter was killed on 9/11, on her way back from a prayer service on that fateful day by a drugged out driver,” said Bloem “He was driving erratically, and had marijuana,heroin,andcocainein hissystem.”
Ms. Bloem’s role with MADD is to comfort families following tragedies,supportingthefamilies emotionallyfromthestartof theprocess,thenthroughthe court system as well as support groups, through the entire adjudication process. Afterwards, some Mothers take on volunteer roles to help other families through theprocess.
