MERIDA, MEXICO

YAXLUM

In Yaxlum 340, an anonymous housing model based on local typologies creates continuous spaces, enriching the interior. Using local materials and traditional layouts, it forms microclimates within a minimalist design.

Eastern courtyards enable cross ventilation and divide the project into a public Airbnb area and a private section.

DATE / 2024 -2025

The courtyards in Yaxlum 340 are strategically placed on the eastern façade to enable passive ventilation, promoting cross breezes that naturally regulate interior temperatures.

These courtyards also create microclimates, enhancing comfort and sustainability within the minimalist design, this is a broadley employed solution in the area.

The house is oriented north-south to prevent interior overheating. It consists of four intersecting volumes, where both functions and materials converge, creating continuous circulation and an open spatial experience.

The Airbnb or guest room is the only isolated volume, with its own access and leisure patio. Additionally, the house features four patios that enhance sunlight and cross-ventilation throughout the project.

This project is thoughtfully designed around simple local materials that pay homage to traditional Mayan housing. By utilizing the same construction techniques as traditional Mayan housing, the project achieves natural temperature regulation.

With the chosen approach is possible to not only preserve cultural heritage but to also promote a connection with the local environment.

SUSTAINABILITY

To achieve energy efficiency and adhere to the residential compound’s regulations. The second story introduces an additional architectural feature: a longitudinal corridor transitioning from exterior to interior. A gesture to vernacular architecture.

This element is designed not only to enhance passive ventilation but also to replicate the transitional experience of continous flow throughout the building.

CONSTRUCTION

Materiality and culture, it is a simple translation of the architecture intentions on either merging or breaking from its environment.

During the construction of this project materiality has evolved into what is available and what is desired, merging both function and aesthetic into one. The hand work of each worker is fixed into stones and a dialogue within the spaces.

CHALLET

SITGES

A seamless fusion of architecture and nature, this chalet project transcends mere design—it redefines the essence of modern luxury. More than an architectural challenge, it is a holistic endeavor that reshapes our understanding of refined living.

The interplay between nature and architecture is no longer optional.

HOUSING

OFFICE / ARCHTREE STUDIO

DATE / 2024 - 2025

Reimagined as a deconstruction of volumes. The design embraces a rhythmic and canonical flow, creating a dynamic interplay of form and structure. Archtree Studio’s vision is one of meticulous detail at every level.

The architecture is crafted to captivate from a distance, while maintaining the same thoughtful precision when experienced up close, offering an immersive, cohesive design experience.

STRUCTURE

This project features a robust reinforced concrete structure, cast entirely in situ for the basement level, floor slabs, and columns, avoiding any precast elements.

Beyond this solid foundation, the architecture takes on a lighter, more refined approach with ventilated façades and gypsum walls that envelop the home.

At the heart of the house lies a central wooden core, introducing a natural warmth that contrasts elements.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The reinterpretation of neoclassical design carries seamlessly into the interiors, where elegant wall moldings and refined wooden details establish a backdrop of timeless luxury. Every corner reflects a harmonious blend of classical influence and contemporary living.

I infused my own creative touch into the interior design, offering a fresh perspective while honoring the classical roots of the house.

The vision for this project was to ensure that each room evoked a distinct atmosphere while remaining part of the same overarching narrative.

The expansive layout of the home allows for a fluid transition between zones, with subtle variations that enrich the experience of moving through the space. Yet, despite these personal touches, the interior maintains a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic.

COLOR AND TEXTURE

The more intimate spaces, such as bedrooms and private bathrooms, offer a deeply immersive experience with distinctive color palettes. These personalized hues are contrasted with rich textures, once again echoing the concept of designing each layer of the spatial experience.

Every texture is carefully chosen to enhance the sensory experience, making the design not just a visual journey, but one that engages all the senses.

SLITTI STORE

From concept to reality, Slitti was crafted as a space that reflects the essence of the brand, a perfect blend of elegance, craftmanship, and the rich history of fine chocolate.

In the heart of Barcelona, just a few steps of the iconic Casa Mila, the interior design of Slitti includes the design of a showcase / order area and a lush garden like restaurant that contrast and enriches each other.

RETAIL DESIGN

STUDIO

/ ARCHTREE STUDIO DATE / 2024-2025

My involvement in this project spanned the entire process, from conceptual design and detailed solutions to managing material orders, securing permits with the municipality, and overseeing the final construction finishes. The materiality, spatial flow, and overall layout are the result of close collaboration within the studio team.

We crafted more than just a commercial space—we designed an experience.

LAYERING HISTORY

Slitti’s project is a masterful blend of history and modern sophistication. The design draws inspiration from the past, with materials stripped back to their raw essence, meticulously restored, and elevated with refined touches of elegance.

Every detail, from the handpicked finishes to the high-quality materials, was chosen to evoke an air of exclusivity, aligning with the store’s concept.

MATERIALITY

The conceptualization and execution of materiality within the framework of this project are underpinned by a meticulous synthesis of empirical data gleaned from original building materials and in-depth area understanding.

In essence, the selection and application of materials are predicated upon a holistic understanding of the site’s intrinsic characteristics and contextual nuances.
