Showboat Stadium 6 has a continuing commitment to hosting several blood drives a year. It all started a few years ago, co-owner Becky Dupuis said, when their daughter worked in a lab preparing blood for transfusions at a hospital in Denver that did a lot of liver transplants. “She said it takes 37 pints of blood for a liver transplant,” Becky recalled. “She said they’re always short of blood. When we heard that, we decided we should figure out a way to help.” Becky and her husband, Gary, started giving blood. “But then we decided we could have blood drives in the theater.” A call to the Red Cross office in Kalispell con-

the theater complex will be Jan. 22. Future blood drives there have been scheduled for March 25 and May 28. “We love having people come here,” Becky said. “We have someone there to chat with them and they get popcorn afterwards. I think people enjoy coming to the thew w w.va l le yj our na l.net

have trouble getting people to donate. We do send out reminders but the slots just fill up. People in the community are so generous.” A number of blood drives are scheduled at other locations in Polson in the coming weeks and see page 2
