Family Fun in the Hot Summer Sun...
In the Pacific Northwest, it’s important to take full advantage of our precious summer sunshine any time it graces us with its presence. As a result, Monroe and its surrounding communities know how to do summer right! There is a diverse range of summertime events, festivals and celebrations to choose from, each uniquely reflective of its locale. From Monroe’s Movies under the Moon to the Evergreen State Fair to the Sultan Swoosh 3-on-3 basketball tournament, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

KLA HA YA DAYS Snohomish July 16 – July 21
The Kla Ha Ya Days festival runs each summer to bring the community of Snohomish together. It’s been a tradition for over 100 years. Kla Ha Ya means “Welcome” and that’s just what Snohomish does. A family-friendly event that includes a carnival, parade, frogtastic kids fair, music stage and more. The festivities kick off Wednesday, July 16, 2019 and runs through Sunday, July 21, 2019.

DUVALL DAYS Duvall • Saturday, June 1

Duvall Days is a free, one-day festival that honors and celebrates Duvall’s “Small Town / Real Life” community theme. Often touted as Duvall’s “Best Day of the Year,” Duvall Days includes a vast assortment of family-friendly activities, including vendor booths, a climbing wall, bouncy houses, a petting zoo, laser tag, live music, ziplines, trampolines, pony rides and more! The festivities kick off at 9 a.m. on Main Street and culminates in a 10 p.m. fireworks show over Duvall’s McCormick Park. Event shuttles are available from several different local parking lots to shuttle you back and forth!

NAUTIQUE WWA WAKEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Monroe • July 24 – July 27
It’s BACK! This exciting wakeboard competition is an international showcase, featuring Monroe as one of just five event stops. According to the Nautique website, the 2019 season promises one of the most impressive line-ups to date, offering multiple days of high-speed, action-packed competition. This event takes place in Monroe’s Lake Tye Park, welcoming spectators of all ages!

INDEX ARTS FESTIVAL Index Saturday, August 10 • 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Held in the tiny postage-stamp sized town of Index, the Index Arts Festival relishes the artistic abilities of Sky Valley residents, welcoming writers, painters, sculptors, photographers, artisans and poets, who come to showcase their work. Tucked off of U.S. 2 east of Gold Bar, the event features poetry and spoken word presentations, art demonstrations, live music and dancing in the park. All things unique and hand-crafted are featured in a variety of vendor exhibits, making it the perfect place to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, with one-of-a-kind items not found anywhere else.

GOLD DUST DAYS Gold Bar July 26 – July 28
Gold Dust Days is a family-friendly community celebration that honors Gold Bar’s mining heritage while recognizing and celebrating the history of the Sky Valley. Gold Dust Days brings low-tech, old-fashioned fun, allowing kids to bask in the simplicity of playfulness, offering gunnysack races against local firefighters, lasso lessons, horseback rides, bicycle decorating, face-painting, a bouncy house and more. For adults, there are local artists and vendors, live music, food, a Civil War encampment, car shows and hot rod competitions.

MOVIES UNDER THE MOON Monroe August 2, August 9, August 16 and August 23
Movies under the Moon takes place in Monroe’s Lake Tye Park, a 64-acre destination park featuring a 42-acre lake, picnic tables, concession stand, restrooms, playground, covered eating area and much more. Watch movies as the sun says its final farewell to the day in Lake Tye’s comfortable grassy area, which welcome blankets and lawn chairs – or whatever makes you comfortable. This year’s movie lineup includes: Incredibles 2 (August 2), Ralph Breaks the Internet (August 9), Mary Poppins Returns (August 16) and Black Panther (August 23). Movies under the Moon is FREE!

EVERGREEN STATE FAIR Monroe • August 22 – September 2
Everybody loves the Evergreen State Fair! The twelve-day extravaganza never disappoints, with its petting zoo, high-energy carnival, equestrian shows, live music performed by nationally-known artists, decadent fair food, live racing action at Evergreen Speedway, fireworks, a rodeo, farm animals, 4-H, and much more. Organized by Snohomish County, the Evergreen State Fair invites guests to be a part of the action, featuring various contests including pie-eating, water balloon tossing and others. It honors the county’s agricultural roots and celebrates its diversity with displays of antique tractors, Native American totem poles, Quil Cedar carvers and gardening exhibits.

SULTAN SWOOSH 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Sultan Saturday, August 17

The games kick off at 9 a.m. at this all-ages basketball tournament in Sultan’s River Park, located at the corner of First and Main streets. This actionpacked event turns downtown Sultan into a live sports arena, as three-person teams battle it out on multiple courts. Last year’s tournament welcomed a total of 44 teams in 10 different age divisions, and this year’s event promises to be even bigger! MONROE FAIR DAYS PARADE AND MARKET Monroe Saturday, August 24 • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Monroe Fair Days Parade and Market rings in the Evergreen State Fair in a dazzling flurry of historic reverence, vibrant performances and good oldfashioned community pride. Held each year on August 24 and 31, the parade proceeds down Monroe’s Main Street starting at 11 a.m. in a dramatic wave of colors, sights and sounds. Arrive early to grab a great seat and don’t forget to check out the Monroe Fair Days Market, located at 639 W. Main Street, in the parking lot of the Wagner Performing Arts Center.
