Dear Campers and Parents, Welcome to another great summer at the YMCA! Camp can be a magical place, providing a fun, safe community for young people to explore the outdoors, build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills, and make lasting friendships and memories.

Our counselors are wonderful role models, selected based on their experience, attitude, interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm. They genuinely care about the individual development of each camper and help their campers learn how to live and work together as a community.

All staff are CPR and First Aid certified and trained in risk management, child abuse prevention, behavior management, character development, and team building.

We are excited to see so many returning faces and thrilled to welcome the newcomers to our camp staff team.

FAST FACTS AM EXTENDED DAY Offered at no additional cost with your Camp Arrowhead Registration!

• Available for campers age four and up who are enrolled in a morning/all-day camp.

• Offered 7:30 - 8:45am, Monday-Friday • Camp Staff will escort children from Extended Day to their camp.

PM EXTENDED DAY

• Available for an additional charge.

EARLY BIRD RATE

• Sign up by May 1st, and receive a discount for each week you register.

• After May 1st Camp Arrowhead, Gymnastics Camp, and Sports Camp prices will increase.

• A $25 deposit is required at the time of registration.

• It is required to have a credit card or bank account on file for billing purposes.

• Your credit card or bank account will be billed two weeks prior to the start of each camp in which your child is enrolled.

Meet Your Counselor Night Wednesday, May 24 2017 6:00 - 7:00pm • SE YMCA will meet at the lower shelter.

• NW YMCA will meet at the shelter on the soccer field.

WHAT TO KNOW

Most campers spend their day outside. The following information will let parents know how best to prepare their camper for a great day.

• Children must wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

• No sandals or flip flops.

• Sunscreen should be applied before camp and will be applied every two hours throughout the day.

• Please send your camper with a labeled water bottle and a lunch that does not need refrigeration.

• Most camps with campers age 3 and older will swim.

Please look for this symbol which designates a camp that includes swimming. If your child is registered for a camp that includes swimming, please send a swimsuit and towel with them to camp.

CAMP ARROWHEAD BEST FRIENDS EVER!

AGES 2-5 PATHFINDERS & LITTLE LEADERS, & JR. EXPLORERS

All preschool campers will be participating in age-appropriate gross motor games and activities that are created to reinforce our weekly themes. Campers will also have the opportunity to practice fine motor skills through different art experiences, using a wide variety of resources and materials. Campers 3 and older will also be swimming. Look for this symbol which designates camps that include swimming.

Preschool camps are available at the Southeast YMCA only.

AGES 6-10 EXPLORERS, VOYAGERS, & TRAILBLAZERS

At Camp Arrowhead, children will make new friends, be a part of a group, practice teamwork, and have great new experiences being “unplugged” in the natural world. Each week of camp will have a unique theme with corresponding games, activities, and crafts. Campers can look forward to enjoying something new every week!

AGES 11-13 CHALLENGERS

This is a program for youth who enjoy the great outdoors, games, and challenges! Through activities and challenges, leadership and communication skills are developed, and teens will have opportunities to practice these skills as new friendships and bonds are formed throughout the summer.

Sports camps, available at both the Southeast and Northwest YMCA, offer youth age 5-14 specialized sports training and are designed to teach sports skills, fair play, teamwork, and sportsmanship while reinforcing the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Gymnastics Camp is for all skills, levels and abilities. While campers do not need to have prior experience to attend this camp, a desire to learn and practice gymnastics is a must. Campers will spend 3-4 hours each day practicing drills, shapes, and skills.

Gymnastics Camp offers Extended Day through the SE YMCA. All campers may register for extended day at the SE YMCA and Gymnastics Camp staff will walk them up to the Gymnastics Center before camp begins. At the end of camp, Gymnastics Camp staff will walk campers down to the SE YMCA who are registered for afternoon Extended Day.

Young Minds Create Art

Get out of the heat and do something different!

Book Club will allow campers to spend the majority of the afternoon reading their own favorite books or checking out something new from the Y library. Time to enjoy the great outdoors will be built into the day too but the majority of this three-hour camp will be relaxed reading time.

NEW YMCA Leadership Program We believe that leadership is best learned by doing and camp is one of the best environments to teach through experiential learning. Monroe County YMCA has adopted, and is excited to be implementing, the YMCA of the USA Teen Leadership Training Program to grow and train great leaders in our community!
