INTERNATIONAL STUDENT VOICE COMPETITION

MODEL UNITED NATIONS DEBATING Monkton’s Model United Nations (MUN) team participated in the Bath International Schools’ MUN, one of the largest and most prestigious national MUN conferences with over 300 students present from the UK and overseas.

SETTLING IN Moving to a new school can be challenging, especially when moving to another part of the world and having to learn a new language. But Monkton ensures all students feel safe, loved and part of a community.

The International Student Voice public speaking contest celebrates the art of communication and is always a highlight of the EAL calendar. The task was to deliver a unique two-three minute speech on any topic in English to wow the audience, followed by live questions. After some training in public speaking techniques and a high quality class round for all EAL students, the stage was set for the Monkton Final, held in the School Chapel. You could hear a pin drop as our talented speakers eloquently tackled topics as wide ranging as Human vs AI Teachers, Sumo Wrestling, Dress to Impress and Beware of Vegetables!

Boarding houses provide buddies to help students adapt and ease the adjustment to a new campus, whilst ensuring activities are inclusive to allow all students to flourish.

BOARDING BOARDING Boarding is at the very heart of Monkton. We have seven boarding houses: Hatton at the Prep School and six further boarding houses (three for boys and three for girls) at the Senior School. One of Monkton’s strengths is the breadth of activities available to pupils at weekends.

HATTON HOUSE Matt and Sarah Winfield are the Houseparents of Hatton House. Small and family-focused, Hatton is a home-from-home for our family of around 50 boarders, occupying the top two floors of the main building at the heart of the Prep School.

SENIOR SCHOOL BOARDING Boarding houses are mixed year groups, with each having Year 9 to Year 13 boarders. Each boarding house has its own character and identity and we look forward to showing you behind-the-scenes in upcoming issues of this newsletter.

EXEATS We are delighted to announce that following feedback from agents, exeats are now optional for both Prep and Senior School. Students choosing to stay in school will enjoy a relaxed programme over these weekends.
