MONARCH BUTTERFLIES

Author: Nola Ashton

In the garden, a butterfly lays an egg. Then a caterpillar hatches from its egg. It hatches very quietly. It was a baby at first. It starts to look for some food because the caterpillar is very hungry. The caterpillar got bigger and bigger. The caterpillar made herself a chrysalis on a leaf. Happily, the caterpillar hatches. It was a black and white monarch butterfly with white spots. It flitted around the garden.

THE LITTLE DRAGON

One morning, Sam the little boy went to pick some strawberries. On a leaf, next to the strawberries, a little dragon was sleeping.

Sam took the little dragon back inside. When the dragon woke up, he was smoking so Sam put him in a glass of water. POOF! A cloud of steam rose up. Sam ran a bath and the little dragon swam around. Then he flew into the air and fell to the ground. Sam made the dragon a little bed near his.

Next morning, Sam gave the dragon a small golden chain and took him to school. But when the little dragon was not on Sam’s shoulder any more, he knew that he had flown away.

HAMSTER

One day there was a hamster named Bill. He was the poorest hamster in the world. What Bill would do was float around in the ocean inside a tin can. All that was in the can was a couch, a TV and an umbrella. He also had one solar panel. When Bill was 5 years old, his parents threw him out the window of their house. He was lonely with no family or friends. Inside his couch Bill had a stash of peanuts. Every morning he would look out of the can and find food in the sea.

THE HOUSE

One hot, sunny morning on a hill in a forest next to a small town, there was an old brown house. It was a small house with a black door and three windows. A little girl and her mum lived in it. The little girl’s name was Daisy and her mum’s name was Sophie. They had a cow named Deia.
