Missouri Crop Progress and Condition (11/16/15) Continued dry weather allowed fall harvest to advance. Temperatures averaged 57.0 degrees, 0.6 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.05 inches statewide, 0.76 inches below normal. There were 6.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending October 18. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 29 percent very short, 39 percent short, 28 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 16 percent very short, 33 percent short, 47 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Corn harvest was 89 percent complete, 32 percentage points ahead of last year and 12 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average. Soybeans dropping leaves progressed to 83 percent, 5 percentage points behind last year and 7 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybean harvest was 50 percent complete, compared to 24 percent last year and 44 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton bolls opening progressed to 99 percent, 9 percentage point ahead of the 5-year average. Cotton harvest was 39 complete, 9 percentage points behind the 5-year average.
