Missouri Crop Progress and Condition October 14, 2014 Fall harvest was delayed again by heavy rainfall late last week. There were 2.8 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending October 12. Statewide, temperatures averaged 58.2 degrees, which is 0.3 degrees above normal. Rainfall averaged 2.24 inches statewide. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 8 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 36 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 17 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus. Corn mature reached 97 percent. Corn harvest was 51 percent complete, 17 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Corn moisture at harvest averaged 17 percent. Corn condition was rated 87 percent good to excellent. Soybeans turning color progressed to 94 percent. Soybeans dropping leaves progressed to 82 percent. Soybean harvest was 16 percent complete, 16 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybean condition was rated 74 percent good to excellent. Cotton bolls opening progressed to 86 percent. Cotton harvest was 21 percent complete, up 17 percentage points from last week. Rice harvest progressed to 69 percent complete. Pasture condition was rated 14 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 44 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
