Missouri Crop Progress and Condition Another dry week across the majority of the state allowed row crop harvest to advance. There were 6.8 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending September 27. Temperatures averaged 68.5 degrees, 6.0 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.01 inches statewide, 1.07 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 8 percent very short, 32 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 22 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus. Corn mature reached 83 percent, 6 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Corn harvest was 46 percent complete, 15 percentage points ahead of last year but 2 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybeans dropping leaves progressed to 32 percent, 13 percentage points behind last year and 12 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybean harvest was 8 percent complete, compared to 3 percent last year and 4 percent for the 5-year average. Sorghum harvest was 24 percent complete, 6 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average. Cotton bolls opening progressed to 73 percent, 2 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average. Rice harvest was 48 percent complete, 8 percentage points behind the 5year average.
