Missouri Crop Progress and Condition Widespread rain fell across the state last week. Temperatures averaged 77.2 degrees, 1.1 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.28 inches statewide, 0.47 inches above normal. There were 4.1 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending August 9. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 4 percent short, 64 percent adequate, and 32 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 4 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 27 percent surplus. Corn silking reached 93 percent, 7 percentage points behind the previous year and 4 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Corn in the dough stage reached 68 percent, 11 percentage points behind the previous year and 4 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Corn dented reached 31 percent, 5 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybean blooming progressed to 58 percent, 25 percentage points behind the previous year and 22 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybeans setting pods reached 27 percent, 27 percent points behind the previous year and 18 percentage points behind the 5-year average.
