Missouri Crop Progress and Condition Warm, dry conditions throughout most of the state this week allowed haying to progress. Temperatures averaged 79.4 degrees, 2.7 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.82 inches statewide, 0.07 inches above normal. There were 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending August 2. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent short, 59 percent adequate, and 36 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent short, 67 percent adequate, and 31 percent surplus. Corn silking reached 91 percent, 8 percentage points behind the previous year and 3 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Corn dough reached 51 percent, 9 percentage points behind the previous year and 6 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Corn dented reached 16 percent, 4 percentage points ahead of the previous year but 5 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybean blooming progressed to 46 percent, 28 percentage points behind the previous year and 22 percentage points behind the 5-year average.
