Missouri Crop Progress and Condition Precipitation continued to limit wheat harvest and hay cutting, particularly in the northern portion of the state. Temperatures averaged 81.7 degrees, 3.2 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.65 inches statewide. There were 3.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending July 19. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent short, 52 percent adequate, and 47 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent short, 60 percent adequate, and 38 percent surplus. Corn silking progressed to 70 percent, 19 percentage points behind the previous year and 7 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Corn dough reached 9 percent, 17 percentage points behind the previous year and 16 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 83 percent, 17 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Soybean blooming progressed to 21 percent. Winter wheat harvest was 89 percent complete, 11 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Cotton squaring progressed to 83 percent complete. Pasture condition was rated 2 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 19 percent excellent.
