MISSOURI CROP PROGRESS REPORT 05/20/19 Temperatures last week averaged 66.7 degrees, 2.0 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.85 inches statewide, 0.29 inches below normal. There were 2.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending May 19, 2019. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 54 percent adequate and 46 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 60 percent adequate and 40 percent surplus. Corn planted progressed to 62 percent this week, 33 percentage points behind last year, while corn emerged progressed to 44 percent. Corn condition was rated at 2 percent very poor, 18 percent poor, 45 percent fair, 34 percent good, and 1 percent excellent. Soybeans planted progressed to 9 percent, 49 percentage points behind last year, while soybeans emerged progressed to 3 percent. Cotton planted progressed to 34 percent. Rice planted progressed to 69 percent, 20 percentage points behind the 5year average, while rice emerged progressed to 46 percent. Rice condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 57 percent good. Winter wheat headed progressed to 70 percent, 11 percentage points behind last year. Winter wheat condition was rated at 2 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 6 percent excellent. Alfalfa first cutting progressed to 12 percent, 12 percentage points behind last year. Other Hay first cutting progressed to 5 percent, 5 percentage points behind last year.
