Missouri Crop Progress and Condition Report (10/10/17) Harvesting continues to progress despite rain in some areas. Statewide, the temperature averaged 70.2 degrees, 10.7 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.18 inches statewide, 0.35 inches above normal. There were 4.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending October 8. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 12 percent very short, 24 percent short, 61 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 35 percent short, and 54 percent adequate. Corn mature reached 97 percent, up 8 percentage points from last week. Corn harvested for grain was 53 percent complete, compared to 65 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 16 percent excellent. Soybeans coloring reached 90 percent, compared to 89 percent for the 5-year average. Soybeans dropping leaves was at 69 percent, up 15 percentage points from last week. Soybean harvest was 22 percent complete, compared to 20 percent for the 5-year average. Soybean condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 12 percent excellent. Cotton with bolls opening reached 92 percent. Cotton harvest was 24 percent complete, compared to 20 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Rice harvest reached 79 percent. Sorghum harvested was 39 percent complete. Winter wheat planted reached 19 percent, compared to 20 percent for the 5 -year average. Winter wheat emerged reached 7 percent.
