Missouri Crop Progress and Condition Report (09/11/2017) Cooler temperatures continued across the state last week with temperatures averaging 66.6 degrees, 5.5 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.05 inches statewide, 0.62 inches below normal. There were 6.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending September 10. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 8 percent very short, 37 percent short, and 55 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 8 percent very short, 30 percent short, and 62 percent adequate. Corn dented reached 93 percent. Corn mature reached 42 percent, compared to 55 percent for the 5-year average. Corn harvested for grain reached 12 percent, compared to 17 percent last year and 19 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 12 percent excellent. Soybeans setting pods reached 96 percent. Soybeans coloring reached 36 percent, compared to 23 percent for the 5-year average. Soybeans dropping leaves was at 10 percent. Soybean condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Cotton with bolls opening reached 41 percent. Cotton condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Rice harvest reached 9 percent, compared to 18 percent for the 5year average. Rice condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 34 percent excellent. Pasture and range condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.
