Missouri Crop Progress and Condition Report (08/21/2017) Temperatures last week averaged 75.6 degrees, 0.8 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.33 inches statewide, 0.55 inches above normal. There were 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending August 20. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 9 percent very short, 24 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 7 percent very short, 25 percent short, and 68 percent adequate. Corn in the dough stage reached 90 percent, up 5 percentage points from last week. Corn dented reached 64 percent, up 17 percentage points from last week. Corn condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Soybeans blooming reached 92 percent. Soybeans setting pods reached 75 percent. Soybean condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Cotton setting bolls reached 90 percent. Cotton condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Rice headed was at 90 percent. Rice condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Pasture and range condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.
