Following ice and rains which in some of the southern areas of the state reached amounts of 3-4 inches farmers are dealing with some fairly serious winter mud. Temperatures have warmed enough that even in the early hours of the day the ground is still too soft to get around very well. This has made feeding or getting in and out of many hay lots quite an aggregation. USDA’s annual crop summary was released recently showing nationwide hay stocks are the highest since 2010.
