Hard to believe but many producers are now thinking about spring grass and green up. Plans are being made for fertilizer and spraying. It is still February and there are still several days of feeding left, but as the days get longer and the average temperatures slowly rise, feeding needs will decrease. Those in the hay business would sure like to see lower inventories going into the new growing season but ample amounts of left over hay looks to be quite likely. The supply of hay is moderate to heavy, demand is light and prices are steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
