Agricultural Summary A week of heavy rains fell across the southern half of the State. The south-central district and the southern part of the central district experienced flash flooding along creeks and rivers flooding crops in low lying areas. Areas north of the Missouri River had a few scattered showers with most areas receiving little to no precipitation. There were 3.7 days suitable for fieldwork. The northern three districts had over 6 days suitable for fieldwork while the southern 3 districts had 1 day or less suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture supply was 10 percent very short, 25 percent short, 46 percent adequate and 19 percent surplus. The southwest and southeast were rated 58 percent and 55 percent surplus. The north-central, northwest, and northeast districts were rated 78 percent, 73 percent, and 69 percent short and very short. Subsoil moisture supply was 7 percent very short, 24 percent short, 60 percent adequate and 9 percent surplus. Field Crops Report Corn silked was 95 percent complete, 20 days behind last year and 4 days behind normal. Sixty percent of corn was in the dough stage, 20 days behind last year and 5 days behind normal. Corn dented was 19 percent complete, 24 days behind last year and 9 days behind normal. Corn is starting to mature in the southeast and south-central districts. Corn condition was 4 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Soybeans blooming were 74 percent complete, 13 days behind last year and 4 days behind normal. Soybeans setting pods was 35 percent complete, 9 days behind last year and 4 days behind normal. Soybean condition was 4 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 46 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Alfalfa hay 3rd cutting was 45 percent, 13 days behind last year and 1 day behind normal. Pasture & Livestock Pasture conditions were 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 12 percent excellent. Supply of hay and other roughages was 6 percent short, 81 percent adequate and 13 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were 5 percent short, 76 percent adequate and 19 percent surplus. Weather Summary Temperatures were average to 4 degrees below average across the state. Precipitation averaged 2.60 inches statewide. The south-central district reported 5.67 inches. Pulaski County reported 15.80 inches.
