Agricultural Summary Planting nears completion from another dry week across the State. There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture supply was 2 percent very short, 21 percent short, 75 percent adequate and 2 percent surplus. Topsoil rated short and very short increased 15 points last week. Subsoil moisture supply was 13 percent short, 84 percent adequate and 3 percent surplus. Field Crops Report Corn silked was 15 percent complete, 20 days behind last year and 10 day behind normal (5-year average). Corn condition was 2 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Soybean planting was 98 percent complete, 18 days behind last year but 2 days ahead of normal. The southwest district is 81 percent planted and 51 percent emerged. Soybeans were 90 percent emerged, 16 days behind last year but the same as normal. Soybean blooming was 2 percent complete, 18 days behind last year and 11 days behind normal. Soybean condition was 2 very poor, 7 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Sorghum planting was 98 percent complete, 16 days behind last year but the same as normal. Sorghum headed was 1 percent complete, 13 days behind last year and 12 days behind normal. Sorghum condition was 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 39 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 2 percent excellent. Winter wheat harvested increased 35 points to 86 percent, 21 days behind last year and 2 days behind normal. All districts except the south-central and southeast increased by 36 points or more. Alfalfa hay 1st cutting was 98 percent, 31 days behind last year but 3 days ahead of normal. Alfalfa hay 2nd cutting was 43 percent, 25 days behind last year and 5 days behind normal. Other hay cut was 78 percent, 28 days behind last year, and 1 day behind normal. Pasture & Livestock Pasture conditions were 1 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 63 percent good, and 9 percent excellent. Supply of hay and other roughages was 1 percent very short, 8 percent short, 85 percent adequate and 6 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were 1 percent short, 92 percent adequate and 7 percent surplus. Weather Summary Temperatures were 2 degree to 7 degrees below average and precipitation averaged 0.22 of an inch statewide. The east-central district reported 0.67 of an inch.
