Agricultural Summary Wet soil conditions from the previous week’s heavy rains limited fieldwork. There were 2.9 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture supply was 62 percent adequate and 38 percent surplus. The west-central and southeast districts were rated 62 percent and 53 percent surplus, respectively. Subsoil moisture supply was 2 percent short, 80 percent adequate and 18 percent surplus. Spring tillage was 89 percent, 32 days behind last year, and 6 days behind the 5 year average (normal). Field Crops Report Corn planting was 93 percent complete, 27 days behind last year and 8 days behind normal. Corn emerged was 82 percent complete, 23 days behind last year and 7 days behind normal. Corn condition was 2 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 6 percent excellent. Some corn and soybeans were replanted. Soybean planting was 48 percent complete, 24 days behind last year and 10 days behind normal. Soybeans were 31 percent emerged, 19 days behind last year and 9 days behind normal. Cotton planting was 95 percent complete. Cotton squaring was just beginning. Cotton condition was 2 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 62 percent good, and 4 percent excellent. Winter wheat turning color advanced 32 points to 61 percent complete, 24 days behind last year and 5 days behind normal.
