Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 01/25/2013 Hay production numbers for Missouri for 2012 were less than stellar.

From the year prior statewide production decreased by nearly 1 million tons and was the lowest since 1988 (again) with harvested acres the lowest since 1997 and the average yield for all hay types of 1.44 tons per acre. Alfalfa hay had an average per acre harvest of 1.9 tons and the first time that number was below 2.0 tons per acre since 1955. Despite all of those negative numbers shadowing over production, hay supplies are still light to moderate with moderate demand and prices steady.
