Winter reared its’ ugly head again this week as areas south of I70 were hit with a major winter storm. Ice, snow and freezing temperatures putting a halt to virtually all commerce. Most all hay and cattle producers shifted all thoughts and energy into survival, and nor worrying about anything else. This storm is already responsible for human deaths and has left thousands without electricity. Many will not be able to operate their farms as usual for several days and some for weeks. Hay movement is at a standstill this week and will remain so until we have a warm up. Hay supply is moderate to heavy, demand light and prices steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay hotline available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory, call 1-800-877-4HAY (4429) or visit http:// www.mda.mo.gov/pdf/MOHayDirectory.pdf.
