Appeal to young on Covid jabs

New Covid-19 vaccine campaign targets younger people

The rate of Covid-19 infections in both North and Mid Devon remained above the national average for the second month in a row. Now a new ‘Together for Devon’ campaign is being launched on social media to encourage younger people to get vaccinated (right).

NHS Devon’s chief nurse Darryn Allcorn said, “Many of the people in hospital with Covid-19 this summer are younger and unvaccinated.”

“People who are double vaccinated may find it easier to access places such as nightclubs and events, and now will no longer have to isolate if they’re in close contact with someone who has Covid-19.”

Positive cases in our area remain the highest they’ve been since the start of the pandemic - in mid August they were at more than 370 in North Devon and 270 in Mid Devon.

Free Covid tests are available at the mobile unit in centre of South Molton on Tuesdays (9am - 12.30pm) and Fridays (1.30pm- 5pm).
