A winter’s chill on Exmoor

After a several weeks of mild and calm ‘waiting weather’ the first winds of change blew in, bringing snow and a sharp frost to North Devon and Exmoor as we passed through November.

Our breathtaking photo of the month was captured by hardy local photographer Chris Metcalfe, who braved sub zero temperatures at twilight on ‘the real moor’.

“On my way home from a snowy Exmoor I came across this delightful scene on Molland Common that just had to be photographed,” said Chris. “To the human eye the view was magnificent, if a tad chilly! But cameras cannot match the dynamic range of our eyes, so I was particularly pleased to capture this one.”

“It was taken with my Fujifilm GFX 100ii, very high ISO and with the medium format just about ‘froze’ the cow crossing the road - if it wasn’t frozen already that is!!”
