$190k for Showground fix

Cabonne Council on Tuesday approved $190,000 expenditure from its Capital Works Reserve to carry out the repair works to the Main Pavilion and Luncheon Pavilion buildings at the Molong Showground.

The work will be staged with urgent and safety related works coming first to allow the 2019 Molong Show to go ahead utilising the facilities.

The Molong Showground pavilions are located on Crown land to which council is trustee. The pavilions are effectively council assets. A licence between council and the Showground Trust operates to establish core functions.

Council recently carried out detailed inspections of the Main Pavilion and Luncheon Pavilion at the Molong Showground to ascertain the structural condition Following the inspections, it was found that a total of eight areas required repair works to return the buildings to a safe and satisfactory condition. The majority of the damage to the structures was caused by insect infestation and inadequate building drainage.

Earlier, the Show Society feared that the buildings

would have to be replaced at estimated costs of over $1.5million.

Works to be carried out include: Main Pavilion • Entry brickwork to be restored to its original condition to prevent risk of falling.

• Inspection of the entire floor area and to allow repairs

Canowindra Canowindra’s main street, store windows have been decorated to resemble the dress style of iconic ‘dances’. in preparation for the biggest dance event in the Central West titled “Canowindra’s 12 Hours of Dancing.”

This new event will take place on the 30th of June at the Canowindra Services Club with the 12 hours program combining live and recorded music. Phil Redenbach will be performing while guests dance to a selection of dance styles, including the Old Time, the Modern Waltz, New Vogue and Straight Eights. Gail Davis, the event organiser is hoping to continue the dance as an annual event. “It would just be fantastic to have a dance event that not only showcases Central West dance but also invites tourists into our community.”

Tommy Jeffs, from Montrose House has partnered with Gail to bring the atmosphere of the dance to Canowindra’s streets, with six local stores all showcasing beautifully styled “dancers” in their window displays.

“Canowindra is famous for its window displays, and our community has all worked together to dress the windows and be a part of the event” said Tommy.

Last week Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders presented that petition to the Speaker of the Parliament of NSW, Jonathon O’Dea. The petition for a 24-hour police station in Wellington followed from a spate of break-ins to local businesses across the town in 2018.

Signatures came from the general public, to shop owners and tourists.

The Wellington Business Chamber oversaw the petition efforts.

Blayney At a Blayney Council meeting Cr Reynolds has opened the door for work at Newbridge railway station to begin after the success of the Newbridge Winter Solstice Festival. Discussions have been had with the CEO of Sydney Trains Howard Collins regarding the station after the success of the works at Blayney and Millthorpe Station.

Wellington A petition calling for a 24-hour police station in Wellington has garnered 1992 signatures by locals and visitors to the town.

Bathurst TARANA residents say a new Bathurst Bullet stop is set to give the village a boost.

Mark Moyes, who owns the Tarana Hotel with his wife Karen, says it will make Tarana more accessible and bring more activity to the village, between Lithgow and Bathurst.

State Member for Bathurst Paul Toole announced last year that a second Bathurst Bullet, leaving later and returning earlier in the day, would soon be running daily between Bathurst and Sydney, stopping at Tarana.

The second Bullet wasn’t due to start running until early 2020, but will now start before the end of the year after money was made available in the NSW Budget.

Central Tablelands Water Level 3 Water Restrictions from 1 July 2019 The general manager of Central Tablelands Water (CTW), Gavin Rhodes, has advised that the Council of CTW resolved at its June 2019 meeting to implement Level 3 Water Restrictions from 1 July 2019.

Mr Rhodes said: “although water supply demand has reduced significantly due to the much cooler winter period, the storage level at Lake Rowlands (CTW’s water source) has continued to fall due to the prolonged drought.

Lake Rowlands historically fills over the winter period, however, the long term rainfall forecast for the Lake Rowlands catchment area is not looking favourable.”

Under CTW’s current Water Restrictions Policy, Level 3 restrictions are triggered when Lake Rowlands falls to 50%. CTW’s chairman, Cr David Somervaille said, “Although we have received approximately 17 millimetres of rain in the Lake Rowlands catchment over the past fortnight, any inflows have been offset by our outflows. Therefore, by considering all current and historical data, resolving to implement level 3 restrictions from 1 July was a unanimous decision by the Board. Our consumers are to be commended for their vigilance in meeting our

Level 2 restriction targets, and I have no doubt the same will apply when Level 3 restrictions come into effect.”

Level 3 restrictions consists of an “odds and evens” system under which watering of gardens and lawns is permitted only every second day between the times of 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm, with the use of microsprays, drip systems and soaker hoses only. Additional approval has been granted by Council for the use of a hand held trigger hose for up to 1 hour per allocated watering day to water gardens only. All information pertaining to the requirements of Level 3 Water Restrictions is available on CTW’s website at www.ctw.nsw.gov.au or by contacting the CTW administration office on 02 6391 7200.

CTW will continue to closely monitor the inflows into Lake Rowlands and long term rainfall forecasts of the Bureau of Meteorology.

CTW would like to thank its consumers for their continued understanding during this period of drought and the importance of using water wisely.

Level 3 water restrictions for the entire CTW supply network will come into effect from 1 July 2019.

Molong in a spin over major sporting event Molong to host NSW Disc Golf Open Championship

In a major coup Molong is to host the state titles of one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with the recent announcement that the Molong Golf Course was to host the NSW Open in the sport of Disc Golf.

Whilst Disc Golf shares it’s basic structure and scoring system with traditional ball golf it varies significantly in that rather than hitting a ball into a hole, players are throwing specially modified Frisbees (or discs) into raised metal target baskets.

The aim of the game is to get your disc landed in the basket in the fewest throws possible, having to negotiate challenges such as trees, dams and wind in order to do so.

“This sport is growing incredibly quickly in Australia and around the world”, said Kevin Costa, President of the Central West Disc Golf Club, “with current figures indicating around 2 million people regularly playing the sport on over 8000 courses around the world.”

Whilst it is still fairly low-key in Australia, organisers like Kevin are working to grow the sport to reach the point which it has in the US and Europe where there is now a significant professional playing circuit, with professional Disc Golfers playing in regular major tournaments for upwards of $US50 000.

“We have been working behind the scenes for quite a while here in Molong and have been rewarded with the hosting rights to this year’s state titles over the October Long Weekend “ Mr Costa said. “We are hoping to have a lot of local interest at the event. At this level Disc Golf is a highly skilled sport with top players being able to throw incredible distances and with great accuracy. At the top level it is a very popular spectator sport.”

Players competing will be travelling from most states around Australia, as well as the possibility of some international players.

The club is also working to establish a permanent course in Molong, to engage local people in this exciting sport. Disc Golf is already a weekly school sport played at Molong Central School and a number of local players who regularly travel around the country for events.

Council to provide audio / video recordings of meetings

Cabonne Council will provide both audio and video recordings of council meetings from December.

Under State Government edict NSW councils are required to publicly provide at least an audio record of meetings.

In line with most surrounding councils Cabonne is investigating both audio and video broadcasting and will likely proceed with a threecamera system, with individual microphones for each councillor and staff member.

A camera can be pointed at each side of the room with a third pointing towards the front desk.

Video can be split in four so that all three camera feeds are visible at once with the option to display either the live minutes or some other image on the fourth quarter.

Councillors will be required to press a button on their microphone to speak to achieve decent audio quality.

MAG Donates $1000 towards Disc Golf Titles

In other areas around where Disc Golf courses have been established they have been embraced by the community and seen high levels of engagement by all age groups, genders and ability levels – it is a highly addictive sport.

In an innovative plan Kevin has also announced that there would be three scholarships up for grabs for Junior players from the Central West or Western NSW who would have their registration costs paid, plus receive a set of playing discs for the competition.

The organisers are also asking local businesses to sponsor the event to attract the top players and really show off our town. This can be done with financial sponsorship of a hole or through donation of goods to offer as prizes.

The Central West Disc Golf Club is also partnering with the Molong Advancement Group as part of their plans to “Turn Molong Pink” over the October weekend with funds raised through raffles and donations at the event going to the McGrath Foundation to support with Breast Cancer Research.

That was Member for Calare, Andrew Gee’s observation when he visited the Molong Men’s Shed last Thursday to deliver a $2,250 grant through the National Men’s Shed Development Programme to purchase a defibrillator.

The Men’s Shed had also received more than $6,000 through the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Program, of which Cabonne Council received $1 million for projects across the LGA. This went towards a bench drill, plasma cutter, pipe bender and other equipment.

With 30 members and a good range of “boy’s toys” the Shed will soon be looking for more space.

Why not Molong?

Moving ahead with the Molong Railway Station Community Opinions: There's been positive feedback (verbal) to the project proposal to reopen the Molong Railway Station building - and to create a new purpose for one of the town’s historical ‘gems’.

It’s been truly heart-warming to hear Molong residents feedback about “what can be ...” extended to thinking about “what this building can do to also help ...” surrounding Cabonne villages and towns. Well done Molong.

Thus far ... the comments are:1. Cabonne Tourist Information Centre - to take advantage of the up to 5,000 vehicles per week - passing through the centre of Molong and to encourage a number of these vehicles to stop, discover (the towns of Cabonne), experience Molong as a 'working rural NSW town', to shop, eat, enjoy ... and return.

- information about Cabonne towns and villages, display and sale of local foods (Cabonne - the Food Bowl theme), wines, businesses, art, tourism enterprises, high quality souvenir products made predominantly by local artisans.

- to promote accommodation options (Cabonne wide) plus events, business activity (capabilities of Cabonne) in light manufacture, agribiz, retail, online etc. etc region, entertainment, What's On etc. A Centre for tourism attraction, development, and biz/economic development opportunities.

4. Inclusion of an original style/operating Railway Refreshment Room model - which was once a feature of the Molong Railway Station.

5. Opportunity for Cabonne food businesses to take part in pop-up cafe/restaurant and run dinners/lunches - cater for small group dining parties, weddings, 21sts etc - in the Molong Railway Station Refreshment Room and adjoining station platform (now fully fenced for safety).

Opportunity to encourage historical train rides (short and long) via Lachlan Valley Railway to and from Molong - increase in tourism, visitors to Molong, Manildra etc. Form linkages with Cabonne towns and villages sited on the line e.g. Stopover in Molong for lunch - Movie and Afternoon Tea at Manildra Amusu etc. Support town under-used facilities e.g. golf train from Orange to Molong Golf Club; bowls train from Orange to Molong; Footy Trains; Molong Show Train; Dinner and lunch trains; Shopping Trains to Molong; Market Train to Molong etc. etc. etc.

How about ... for busy people ... Hop A’Board the Health Train to Molong (Well, this town does offer the very best in all kinds of medical, health and allied health care!)

7. Parking and Public Toilets: Stopover for caravaners, trucks, buses, bus services, cars, bikes, motor bikes etc.

Whilst a large number of residents, it seems, have (well, understandably) settled into their warm houses on these cold winter days and nights - I’m giving the ‘heads up’ that Molong could look different when we all step back out into the warmth of spring and summer.

It doesn’t take an Oxford (Rhodes??) scholar to figure out that if we residents want to see Molong’s pubs, clubs, cafes, shops (even newspaper) survive - we will have to consider taking the time, now, to step out, join in, and help to fill empty seats, empty shops etc currently challenging this town.

Residents who care, need to know that right at this very moment business owners are reporting that their trade is currently 60% down on last year’s figures. Now, that is a horror story for any community to face.

Molong is in danger.

What is happening that is different from last year and the previous years?

The long drought is starting to really bite in.

We’ve managed reasonably well up until now but noticeably this year, day and night - Bank Street and others - is empty of cars and local shoppers, diners etc.

The same is happening in Orange - but luckily Molong shoppers (and from other small towns and villages) are keeping them going. But, forgetting its own (it seems!)

When I worked in the smaller shopping centres in Canberra (72 in number) who were at different stages of survival - community consultation, for some centres, became heated when it was obvious that their suburban shopping centre was no longer viable and would close. “But I need it. Why? Well, I often stop in and buy milk and bread. Sorry, no small shopping centre can survive these days on non-profitable milk and bread - and, only purchases of now and again!”.

Molong residents are staring down the same set of problems. Bank Street and Molong business needs your support and custom, now.

Whilst there are complaints about the prices in Molong. Think about it! These businesses employ, they have a good range of stock, they donate many $$$’s to local events, fundraisers etc, they will all home deliver (free), carry to car service (free) and only a few set up again in Molong after the horrific 2005 floods. So, what is the answer I ask Molong and district residents?

Shops are empty of local and district shoppers, farmers and graziers and most of all, residents which means there is a threat to the future of Molong.

Events and entertainment to attract families, seniors, retirees, singles out of their homes is, generally, ending in failure for the organisers/ business owners. Do we need to drop any further events? Or,can you help us to put into place the right event(s) that you will come to.

Whilst we are still seeing some tourists and visitors coming to town - we need to be out there putting into place new initiatives (silos, railway station building - see opposite page) where Molong can, and has the unique opportunity to bring more of these demographics to town.

Residents numbers are growing, new families to town are growing in number, people employed in Molong in health services, council, schools etc who live outside Molong are now a significant number. If all shopped in Molong ... well, there’s a possible answer to today’s challenges!

Molong Probus Club As reported earlier for our June meeting 32 members went to Lightning Ridge for a three day trip, which was very enjoyable.

Our July meeting will be on Tuesday 9 July at the Molong Bowling Club commencing at 10.00am with Dianne Gill as our special guest speaker, talking on Mental Health. New members are always welcome.

For our August meeting we are holding a Musical Interlude featuring Simply Ukes from the Orange Conservatorium our own Geoff Tonkin and Meg Oliver. We would like to invite the public to come along and enjoy the concert with us.

Great Rep Season for Molong Girls

It has been a very successful representative season for the Molong Girls Under 11’s this year.

Firstly the Molong side came 2nd at the Moorebank Carnival in Division 2 and just last weekend in Dubbo we had 2 teams compete at the Western Conference Carnival.

Molong Black went through undefeated for the day which was an amazing result for the players and coach Hayley Lyons and manager Jenny Olsson.

They didn’t award placings but when you win all your games we know who came first.

MINI REG REG’S BENCH "If you had a dollar," quizzed the teacher, "and you asked your father for another dollar and fifty cents, how much money would you have?"

"One dollar." answered little Johnny.

"You don't know your basic math." said the teacher shaking her head, disappointed.

Little Johnny shook his head too, "You don't know my daddy."

The teacher asks little Johnny if he knows his numbers.

“Yes,” he says. “My daddy taught me.”

“Can you tell me what comes after three?”

“Four,” answers little Johnny.

“What comes after six?”

“Seven,” answers little Johnny.

“Very good,” says the teacher.

“Your father did a very fine job.

What comes after ten?”

“A jack,” answers little Johnny.

The Molong White team had 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses and for a team that had players who as young as 8 the future looks very bright indeed.

Congratulations to the coach Matt Lyons and the players - all the hard work is paying off.

The parent support at Dubbo was fantastic and this enthusiasm is flowing on to greater interest in playing with senior teams and in the upcoming twilight comp when it gets warmer.

Congratulations also to the kids you were absolutely awesome and a pleasure to take away.

Family Law Mediation in Parenting Matters

We are often asked questions about Wills; here are some of those frequently asked questions:

Section 60I of the Family Law Act 1975 requires parents to attempt mediation prior to commencing proceedings unless a child is at risk.

Should I talk with my executor about my Will?

It is sensible to let your executor(s) know that you have appointed them. It lets them know where your most recent original Will is held so they know which firm of solicitors to Deirdre May contact. It gives your executor an opportunity to decline the appointment if they are unable or unwilling to accept, allowing you to decide on a replacement. One of the first things your executor attends to is organising your funeral, so telling them they are executor, means your executor can clarify your funeral wishes.

How often do I need to change my Will?

Everyday life changes can have an impact on our testamentary affairs and documents. Any major life change should trigger a ‘check in’ with your solicitor to see whether your Will and other documents (eg. Power of Attorney, Appointment of Enduring Guardian) are still relevant and in accordance with your wishes.

Major life changes can include (but are not limited to) death of appointed executor/beneficiary; marriage, separation, divorce, entering a new relationship, birth of children/grandchildren, buying property, starting employment for the first time, estrangement or a falling-out with a beneficiary, going overseas, step-children coming into your life, being diagnosed with an illness, having suffered an accident, your children becoming adults, winning the lottery, entering a business, setting up a company; the reasons for checking your documents are many and varied!

We suggest that you make a routine of ‘checking in’ with your solicitor at least once every two years to make sure all your testamentary affairs are in order.

Parents can of course negotiate themselves or with the assistance of their solicitors but this does not fulfil the criteria of s60I should they be unable to reach an agreement without the assistance of the Court.

In our experience, the requirement that all parents attend mediation does assist in reducing the number of matters before the Court and the overall conflict families may experience.

Progress can be achieved even if it is only giving both parents the opportunity to raise their concerns in a safe environment which can then be considered and given weight.

That agreement can then be used to form the basis of Consent Orders made by the Court without either party having to step foot into the Court room. This gives parents all of the benefits of a Court Order without any of the negatives of attending a Final Hearing.

If it is a legally assisted mediation, Consent Orders may be signed on the day or if you choose not to have your solicitor present on the day you can still turn any agreement reached into Orders at a later time.

Where will the tradies be when we need them? The ‘war on TAFE’ heats up.

RECENT BUDGET ANNOUNCEMENTS must lead even the most casual observer to believe the NSW State Government is determined to destroy TAFE.

In Parliamentary Question Time last Wednesday (June 19th, 2019) the new Minister for Skills, The Hon. Geoff Lee, mp, “refused to rule out slashing further teaching jobs at TAFE,” said The Hon. Prue Car, mp, Labor’s Assistant Shadow Minister for Education.

Ms Car says that 5700 teachers and support staff have been sacked from TAFE since 2011, and the Budget papers revealed a further $42.4 million in cuts from TAFE, “…money that could be spent on hiring more teachers and investing in Colleges across NSW” In addition to the mass sackings, the Assistant Shadow Minister said that in the eight years since the present government came to office, TAFE has seen 175,000 fewer students enrolled; the closure of campuses in Dapto and Qurindi; and course fees skyrocket by 2i2 per cent.

“Mr Lee’s failure to address the issue has raised the spectre that more job cuts at TAFE are on the cards,” she said.

I’d like to ask the Minister for Skills why this belittling of TAFE and its place in the economy, and whether or not he has really given any serious thought to the implications of his decisions.

I’d also like to ask all our politicians – past and future, State and Federal – why over the years they have allowed apprenticeships to be watered down to the point where they are now viewed in many quarters as inferior to other forms of tertiary education. For that’s what an apprenticeship is – tertiary education.

Why, I would ask, do you bemoan “Australian skills shortages” and then outsource training programs to shonky operators and allow companies to import foreign visa holders when you know they do so because it is cheaper than training a local workforce?

I was an apprentice myself, once, and I’ll admit things were a lot different back then. I hated school with a passion and I could legally escape its confines at age 15.

I was on my way to school (by steam train) when I saw an ad in the West Australian for an apprentice compositor (hand typesetter) so I hopped off at the next stop, caught a train back to Fremantle and got the job. I then headed back to school, told the headmaster I was now employed, went back to Fremantle and started work that afternoon.

Now technically speaking I wasn’t really supposed to leave school – I was a little under age and didn’t have my “Leaving Certificate”, but the headmaster was so pleased to see the back of me he gave me a

letter of permission, telling me as I walked out through his office door, “You’ll never amount to anything, Povah”.

Maybe he was right, but I’ve had a richer life than he ever did, I’ll bet.

But that’s beside the point.

I went through a three-month probationary period, after which I signed indentures guaranteeing that for six years I would be properly trained in the trade, and that both my employers and I were now subject to the laws and regulations of the Arbitration Commission as they applied to apprentices.

As an apprentice I could not be sacked without some compelling reason, and if a factory closed its doors or the owner and apprentice were genuinely incompatible, the apprentice had to be found another placement.

I was now the Printer’s Devil, the youngest apprentice in the firm, on a weekly wage of £3.10 shillings – about $120 today – and my duties included cleaning toilets, sweeping floors, picking up lunches and smokos from the corner shop, making the tea, delivering jobs on foot around town and any other general duties. This continued until another apprentice was engaged.

I grumbled to myself about the cleaning duties, but errands outside the “shop” were always welcome.

A 15-year-old carrying the metrelong paper-guillotine blade over my shoulder through town to the saw doctor/knife grinder felt a certain sense of importance.

And in hindsight, the more menial tasks gave me a sense of the dignity and importance of all labour. Toilets, floors, composing stones and proofing presses didn’t clean themselves, and it was easier to be tidy in the first place than to have to clean up later.

One day a week, I caught a bus from Fremantle to the Perth Technical College on the banks of the Swan River, where I learned the practice, theory and history of my trade and learned to use equipment I would otherwise never have handled.

Later on, this became one day a fortnight with two, one-week block training sessions a year.

Why am I telling you all this? For several reasons.

The almost fanatical insistence on the importance of university degrees and the downgrading over the years of TAFE, have played no small part in the demeaning of manual work in many people’s eyes – especially those in professions where the main qualification seems to be an ability to separate people from their money with as little effort as possible.

paid economists like to tell us that most menial and mundane tasks will soon be carried out by robots and that the average worker’s future lies in learning to write code for these computerised automatons.

What they neglect to tell us is what do we do about those people for whom school is torture? Or for those whose skill lies in their manual dexterity; their ability to foresee what will happen if you don’t use timber of the right dimensions?

Many among today’s younger generations are already disillusioned by the future we are offering them and too many are rapidly losing their sense of self worth.

Not every boy and girl is happy at school or suited to higher education, and it is delusional to expect every child to become proficient in maths or science. We must be able to offer them some meaningful alternative to a life on the scrapheap.

And apprenticeships are more than just a convenient alternative; I would argue that they are now an urgent necessity.

The climate crisis is at the front gate and will soon be knocking at the door.

Our governments won’t talk about it – let alone do anything – and every political and economic argument is based on life continuing as normal.

But that’s a pipe dream.

When the big storms hit, when people have to be relocated, when infrastructure fails, when people are crying out for emergency housing, who will do the plumbing and carpentry, the rewiring and the roof repairs?

Not robots. Time has almost run out and it will be impossible to build them in time, let alone program them.

Not visa holders. The countries from which they come will be in utter chaos and we will have nowhere to accommodate them in large numbers.

We need to train more apprentices, pure and simple.

I’m not advocating a return to apprenticeship employment conditions of the 1950s, but there are some things that could and should be looked at.

One important difference between now and then is the school leaving age.

We have to face the fact that not all young people are suited to spending most of their teenage years in the classroom, so why not pave the way for them to enter what used to be called “technical training”?

For a lot of young people – both male and female – 18 is just too old to enter an apprenticeship.

At that age, not only do you know

everything, but are considered an adult in the eyes of the world and so less amenable to taking orders from other adults. Beginning “trade” training at an earlier age would help.

And this is where governments could step in. To ensure youngsters had a grasp o the levels of literacy and numeracy required for their chosen trade, governments could provide classes in these subjects to be held in conjunction with trade courses. Most youngsters are happy to learn in other fields when they can see a practical reason for doing so.

Government could subsidise small businesses – many tradies are sole operators – to take on apprentices and should legislate against using them as cheap labour for a short time, then taking on someone new.

And it is not just conventional trades that would benefit both the country and the apprenticeships.

We are going to have to undergo revegetation and rehabilitation works on a massive scale if we are going to face the challenges of the future.

There needs to be skilled labour in these fields as well. In the same way as a Shire Council grader driver can work unsupervised building and repairing table drains and gravel roads, so we could have welltrained teams of skilled reforesters and mine rehabilitators working in remote areas for the national good.

And this sort of work needs to be seen as meaningful, as work that must be done, not just some scheme to make governments’ employment figures look better.

We could train emergency workers, cooks as opposed to chefs, more ambos and firies, agricultral workers – the list is a long one.

It is also essential that the responsibility for training remain in the public sphere.

The gradual handover of “skills training” to private enterprise has seen the rise of fly-by-night opportunists more intent on making money that on training people for this new, uncertain age.

And both government and private sectors need to pull their heads out of the sand – or the clouds – and face their responsibilities to the nation.

TAFE should be seen as an essential part of the education system, as important as kindergartens and universities.

It should be seen as a vital contributor to the national good, not as a place where we send people with no future in the modern world.

CTLX sheep and lamb report for 19/6/19

It was another good quality yarding, with a top selection of trade lambs primarily coming off crops, along with some pretty good heavy weight lambs. There were no Merinos yarded and only limited numbers to suit the restockers. Two regular operators were absent, although this did not affect the market.

Light weight lambs to the processors were $3 to $6 cheaper, trade lambs were $2 Cheaper for the lighter weights and $3 to $6/head dearer for the heavier weights.

Heavy weight lambs were $8 dearer, restocker lambs were dearer, while hoggets sold to $200/head.

There was a fair to good quality yarding of sheep where most grades were $4/ head cheaper. 2 score ewes sold from $72 to $110, while the better 3 and 4 scores made from $110 to $230 for crossbreds and $176/head for Merinos.

Two and four tooth first cross ewes that had been running with the rams sold to the restockers, making from $175 to $195/ head. Merino wethers sold to $168/head.

Agent’s yarded 1680 It was a fair to good quality yarding with a good selection of cows and young cattle to suit the feeders. There was a limited selection of well finished trade cattle and grown steers and once again young weaners were well supplied. There was also some outstanding grown heifers yarded. All the regular buyers were in attendance and operating.

MOLONG GOLF Last Wednesday 16 ladies from Cumnock, Manildra, Yeoval and Molong hit off in a 9 hole 4 Ball best Ball, for our monthly friendship meeting, there were some very good scores recorded and it was a great day, after the golf we enjoyed our lunch together.

Next Wednesday 3rd July we will be playing an 18 hole Flag, 8.30 for 9.00am tee off. **************************** Great to see Royal Molong Golf Course
