Calare exporters School Holiday Fun in Cabonne benefit from Indonesian free trade agreement
James Brazier (L) owner of Pipers Flat, Tim Sullivan from Endeavour Meats, Andrew Gee MP with Brent Bannister (NSW Govt) at Pipers Flat on Monday New export opportunities for country Australian farmers and businesses will begin to flow following the kick-off of Australia’s free trade deal with Indonesia on Sunday. Federal Member for Calare and Minister Assisting the Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Gee, said the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership (IA-CEPA) opens new doors for exporters in the Calare community, with 99 per cent of goods exports to enter Indonesia duty free or under significantly improved arrangements. “This is a big win for our country exporters who have been doing it tough due to the devastating impacts of the drought, bushfires and COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr Gee said. “In these challenging times, the ability for our primary producers and businesses to get their products to overseas markets is crucial to the economic stability of our region. “Indonesia is our thirtieth largest export market and is expected to grow to be the world’s fifth largest economy by 2030 - so there is huge potential for the relationship to grow.
“This is great news for local redmeat exporters like James Brazier, who manages and runs Pipers Flat, and Tim Sullivan, from Endeavour Meats, who stand to be some of the biggest beneficiaries of the IACEPA. “Cattle exports will now enter Indonesia duty free, while frozen beef and sheep meat exports will enjoy a fifty per cent tariff decrease,” said Mr Gee. Tim Sullivan, Sales Director at Endeavour Meats said the IACEPA will be a significant boost for farmers and exporters in the region. “Primary producers and agricultural exporters have seen huge gains as a direct result of the free trade agreements the Government has concluded with Japan, Korea and China,” Mr Sullivan said. “Adding Indonesia to that list is sure to deliver big wins for farmers and other exporters right across the region.” “I looking forward to working closely with exporters in the Calare region to help them take full advantage of the opportunities offered in the Indonesian market,” Mr Gee said.
