Deputy Premier announces new stimulus funding
Eight Cabonne Community Hall upgrades funded Whilst planning for the $6m replacement of the Molong Community Centre and Library progresses the NSW Government has announced funding for new projects in Cabonne - including local village halls. Deputy Premier John Barilaro and NSW Nationals Upper House MP, Sam Farraway visited Molong last Thursday to confirm that $900,000 in funding is to be allocated to three local projects to facilitate the flow of money through local economies, generate jobs and support local businesses. NSW Nationals Upper House MP, Sam Farraway, said funding from the $170 million Drought Stimulus Package will allow Cabonne Council to move forward with projects that will generate work for local trades and suppliers and deliver other broader benefits to the community. Mr Farraway joined with Deputy Premier John Barilaro MP and Cabonne Councillors to announce the successful projects. “$704,000 will go towards upgrading 8 community halls (repairs, painting, installation of kitchen items) including Yeoval Memorial Hall, Cargo Community Centre, Mullion Creek Reserve Hall, Nashdale-Lidster Hall, Cumnock Community Centre, Soldier's Memorial Hall, Manildra, Cudal Community Hall, Moorbel Hall, Canowindra. “Cargo Oval will become a more sustainable site and have a better surface to play and train on thanks to a $126,000 boost to install a more

efficient watering system, which can be easily controlled and additional parameter seating, allowing spectators to get closer to on-field action. “$70,000 will go towards, well-being workshops, which will enable community members to take their minds off the ongoing struggles being experienced via promotion of strategies for self-care through adversity. “Cabonne Council has put forward these projects because they will support communities across the region and help boost opportunities into the future,” Mr Farraway said. Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the NSW Government has worked side-by-side with local councils to ensure that funding is allocated to projects that will benefit the community, support jobs and stimulate the local economy. “We are funding big projects to help towns move towards recovery, measures that relieve financial stress for farmers and water infrastructure to boost drought resilience, but it is just as important to support local businesses and communities,” Mr Barilaro said. The Drought Stimulus Package has funded Cabonne Council's "shovel ready" infrastructure projects and emergency water security projects, putting cash into the economies of the state’s hardest hit drought areas as well as towns doing it tough Mr Faraway said.
Meanwhile... let's talk flood mitigation Never let a chance go by. Whilst Deputy Premier John Barilaro was in town Cabonne General Manager Brad Byrnes and Deputy General Manager, Infrastructure Matthew Christensen hustled Mr Barilaro and Sam Farraway out to the Cumnock turnoff to overlook the raised railway line and bridges. This wetland and the rail line and bridges have long been regarded as a major chokepoint when the Molong Creek overflows - preventing floodwaters from escaping downstream. This area will be a focus of attention for the recently re-formed Molong Floodplain Management Committee. Just getting in early to alert Mr Barilaro that a funding request will soon be on its way.
