Gee returned for a second term as federal member for Calare
Andrew Gee celebrates with his family and supporters on Saturday night Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee said that he feels very humbled that the voters of Calare have placed their trust in him again following his re-election for a second term as the region’s representative. “I’d certainly like to thank the whole electorate for the support that they’ve shown me and the trust that they have placed in me,” Mr Gee said. “The booths in Cabonne were extremely supportive and I was lucky to carry every booth in the area. “I’d also like to acknowledge my opponents in this last election campaign, particularly Jess Jennings who has been in his third election campaign and while we disagree on just about everything, he does passionately fight for what he believes in. “The two-party preferred is still being counted, but looks like there’ll be a significant increase in the margin for Calare,” Mr Gee added. “The key to it has been working with the communities of the Central West over the last three years on a
range of different projects. It’s also been about helping thousands of constituents over the past three years. This is the work that the public doesn’t see, but is the nuts and bolts of being a local member. We have an open door policy and try to help everyone.” Mr Gee said was feeling energised and ready to get back to work for the constituents of Calare. “At the top of my priority list is continuing drought relief because I don’t think we’re out of this drought by a long shot,” Mr Gee said. “While the Coalition Government has delivered the biggest drought relief package in Australia’s history, we’ve got to be in it for the long haul and making sure our famers and country communities get the support they need. “I’m just very grateful that the electors of Calare have seen fit to put their trust and faith in me again. “It’s been a very gratifying and humbling experience, and I’ll do my absolute best to keep fighting and delivering for the people of this area,” Mr Gee concluded.
