The 2019 Molong Bulls Youth League team have had a great season of footy with a number of team members rising through the ranks from junior footy - (the Cabonne Junior Roos and other clubs and sports) bringing strength to the future of Rugby League in this area. These young men have come together as a fine team under the coaching of Mark Thomas and manager, Damien Johnstone. Coach, Mark Thomas could not speak highly enough to the Express about the team's commitment to the game, to each other as team members, and to the Bulls.

Long-time Molong resident, Bruce Stewart is disillusioned with the response of the Cabonne Council tender decision-makers for the 2019/20 Molong Swimming Pool management contract. "I applied for management of the local pool earlier this year" said Bruce, who ran the facility for Cabonne Council for 6 years (two contacts). "I still have residents coming up to me today asking when I'm coming back" said Bruce who ran the pool during the day as well as evenings when the summer nights permitted. "Local families and youth enjoyed our movie and pizza nights at the pool. It gave the kids something to do on summer nights and a place to be. Just like in the days of past in Molong where local and district kids could swim all day and again in the heat of the night at their local baths." So why is Bruce Stewart disillusioned? I attended a Cabonne Council tender briefing session at the pool. I was the only one there. I was advised by letter (6 August 2019) from Cabonne Council that my tender was unsuccessful. The letter said that Lifeguarding Services Australia Pty

"They've been an unbelievable team all through the season" said the proud coach. "Some have been playing their Youth League games and then running onto the field after to play with the Bulls 1st Grade side when needed. The team have also had the responsibility of packing up the Rec. grounds after home games. Whilst the team have finished their season they can look forward to the 2020 season and be very proud of their 2019 efforts, according to Mark and President of the Molong Rugby League, Jenny Barrow (see P.6).

Feeling locked Out! Ltd - who I understand is city based - won the tender. The letter also advised that the successful tenderer would be providing the services at $89,621." "That amount really surprised me given that my tender was for the amount of $55,500. Their's being $34,121.00 above mine. It's a sizeable price difference from mine - given we were answering to the same tender requirements as set by Cabonne Council for services/operations/ management required." "I'm local. Live in this area. And, I would have been employing local people to work the kiosk - collect entrance fees, provide lifeguard services, swimming lessons and the maintenance of the grounds etc."

Bruce (above) has asked for a briefing from Cabonne Council as to the reasons why his tender application was unsuccessful.
