When the summer holidays arrive local families head to Burrendong Dam and the cool waters of Mookerawa located on the mighty Macquarie River where there are holiday homes, caravan parks ... and a number of camping spots offering the Aussie dream of time to ‘kick-back, relax, let the kids run and play ... and as the kids say “it’s the only place where we can go to bed with dirty feet - and eat burnt sausages!”. This is a special time for busy families after the long school and hectic working year with boating, canoeing, rafting, fishing, reading, sitting and “watching the grass grow”... offering a true Aussie bush style holiday. At night the campfire (weather permitting) comes to life with sizzling meats, the day’s catch ... and delicious potatoes baked in the coals.
