It’s summer holiday time

Merry Christmas to all our readers We will be back on 17 January

Inside

When the summer holidays arrive local families head to Burrendong Dam and the cool waters of Mookerawa located on the mighty Macquarie River where there are holiday homes, caravan parks ... and a number of camping spots offering the Aussie dream of time to ‘kick-back, relax, let the kids run and play ... and as the kids say “it’s the only place where we can go to bed with dirty feet - and eat burnt sausages!”. This is a special time for busy families after the long school and hectic working year with boating, canoeing, rafting, fishing, reading, sitting and “watching the grass grow”... offering a true Aussie bush style holiday. At night the campfire (weather permitting) comes to life with sizzling meats, the day’s catch ... and delicious potatoes baked in the coals. This magic waterway is one of Cabonne’s very own ‘beaches’ - located in Cabonne’s own backyard. (Above) Paige, Lochie, Max, Charlie having loads of fun on their ‘biscuits’ at Mookerawa.

Molong has it all. “We’ve got a whole new building and playground”. Molong families achieve 50 additional places for pre-schoolers and day-care services plus vacancies in family day-care.

Molong Real Estate “Strong and Steady”

The Express asked Molong’s 3 real estate/property agents “how is the property market going.” As we suspected, given the increasing number of new faces we see in town, and the ‘for sale’ signs disappearing quickly each week from the Express real estate pages - the comment of all 3 professionals -“it’s been a strong and steady year” (see further comment below). The secret is out - Molong is a fabulous place to live, a friendly town where people care about each other ... and see to each other. We hear visitors, tourists and new residents describing Molong as a pretty town with beautiful

gardens, parklands/sporting facilities, great food where the best in Australia’s cold climate wines are produced, the best in schools/pre-schools and childcare/daycare facilities, interesting local characters, innovative shops, businesses and agribiz, and healthcare services second to none. Molong is indeed a lucky town. Is it any wonder that this gracious town and vibrant community has been ‘discovered’ by people who have not experienced the magic of country town living? Welcome, come join us, we say - you will never want to leave.

Kim Stojanov, First National Molong Real Estate “Our one acre rural blocks in the Molong area have been selling well throughout the year. Smaller, cheaper residential blocks are needed to provide for Molong’s fast growing community. We’ve had a very strong selling year at First National Molong with investor interest and families wanting to move to town and district from other locations. The rental market is quite strong leaving low availability for locals and new people wanting to come to the area. The investors are the ones benefiting with our rental prices at an all time high for the year 2018.” Our commercial buildings are all tenanted with our retail ccupancy at an all time high. The more - the merrier.”

Kurt Adams, Ray White Emms Mooney “We have had a fantastic 2018. In rural property sales we’ve set record land prices despite the extended dry period. Interest has been high from both local and city buyers with property sales bringing new families to the area and providing the opportunity for ‘neighbours’ to increase their land holdings. We’ve got some very exciting listings for 2019 - including one of Molong’s best homes at 103 Philip Street which could set a new price record in Molong.

“It takes a community to raise a child” Molong Central School Presentation Evening and HSC success proves the value we live by. See photos and story inside pages

Kerry Hicks, Molong Real Estate

With a spike in sales for the month of December, Molong Real Estate market finishes the year on a strong note. Destination Molong continues to attract outsiders, with an increased number of Sydney buyers looking for a tree change. Molong has facilities second to none for a town this size, along with our geographic location. The market remains healthy. We don’t see the high and lows of Sydney and larger towns, but continue to attract buyers to our beautiful area.
