New vision for "tired" town centre

When in doubt - get some fresh ideas from outside.

Following consultation sessions and drop-in sessions held in August, Urban Design experts Sala4D and King+Campbell returned to Molong to display their findings and suggestions for a revitalised town centre.

In August, the Molong and Canowindra communities were invited to explore and shape ideas regarding ways to create more attractive and stylish town centres.

The key messages to come out of these consultations for Molong were that the community impression of the town centre is tired and in need of modernisation. The Molong community would like to see their town centre as sophisticated and stylish.

The papers outlining the suggested changes to achieve these visions are on public exhibition on Cabonne Councils website and at their offices.

In one go the proposal for Bank Street:

• Creates a median which separates traffic and allows pedestrians to cross and seek safe relief in the centre • Rids the street of the dreaded double white lines.

• Replaces the current Jacaranda trees at the edges with potted suitable varieties.

• Provides modern and stylish seating and street furniture.

• Proposes a "safe crossing point" halfway up the street.

• Seeks to connect Bank Street to the pool via the laneway to a carpark and the old gasworks site.

Those who attended the Bank Street drop-in sessions and the presentation last week at the RSL Club were treated to a feast of good ideas by the consultants.

Pool season is nearly here!

As we leave winter behind and head into the warmer months, it’s time to start thinking about the pool season in Cabonne. Here is some important information as we head into the season: • Pools open Saturday 7 November • Village pool opening times can be found on Council’s website: https:// www.cabonne.nsw.gov.au/Recreation/Swimming-Pools • Entry prices are the same last year and are detailed on Council's website: https://www.cabonne.nsw.gov.au/Recreation/Swimming-Pools • Season passes are now valid at all five village pools across Cabonne • New this year is a sheet of 10 entry tickets valid at all five village pools.

In addition to the beginning of the 2020/21 pool season, Council is in the early stages of planning for the future for our seven swimming pools.

A community survey has been set up to hear from residents and interested persons on your current use or non-use of the swimming centres and determine the priorities you would like to see for them in the future.

Why do some rural towns look better than others?

Well, why do some rural towns look better than others? Good question! Why has Molong not reached its full potential? Another good question! One can only marvel at what has been achieved in Molong - for Molong, 2020.

Question is for Molong residents today. “Have we achieved ‘good enough’, mediocracy, fantastic, awesome, or the best possible? Can we do better?

On another subject. Orange Live Magazine has a new initiative I’ve been following - an initiative of the dynamic newspaper man, marketer, Bob Holland the owner and creator of Live.

Adopting the words ‘heart’ and creating a new Saturday paper (free) Bob Holland and his team have been questioning if Orange has grown well enough.

In doing so - his team question Orange City Council decision-making ... make suggestions ... encourage community feedback ... all under the banner of “how can we do it better”. A reminder to the residents and decision-makers/leaders of Orange - Bob seems to be suggesting that the ‘heart’ of residents as in past times in Orange - may not be there, today. He also raises many questions on what is the ‘heart’ of Orange - the centre. Pleasingly he suggests a return to considering moreso the commercial centre, the small business owners who once made up the real heart of Orange and still there doing their bit.

Bob has also put his money where his mouth is, so to speak. Investing significant $$’s into his Saturday paper and campaign to encourage Orange residents to think about, consider their city better through improved participation - through better awareness and to come forward with good ideas to improve their city - that can be conveyed to Council, State and Fed Government MP’s etc.

The good news is that it has nothing to do Following kReading back over Molong Express newspapers since 144 years ago has provided me with a different image of what was ... to what is today.

Whilst groups of different people from different generations throughout time have been (luckily) highly involved in the building of Molong township and district - newspaper reports from way back 144 years ago indicate that the same lack of interest (or being positively involved) by the majority of residents would have contributed to this town and surrounds going ahead ... not going ahead ... and overall, being held back.

Attendance at important community meetings, protest meetings, new initiatives ... anything at all at schools, sporting groups, fundraisers was largely lost to the majority of residents who lacked the interest of being involved. And those who did nothing more than scream and shout - demonstrating that they did not agree with ‘change’. In fact the majority (mostly the silent majority) were reported as not being prepared to walk out their front doors to ‘say it’ in front of their fellow residents.

Question is: In the year 2020 - why does the same problem still exist in the Molong community today?

Orange City Council and Councillors have not escaped the campaign for creating a better Orange. One of the difficulties that most informed, intelligent people in the area see is Councillors representing political allegiance. Like many other Councils across Australia, including city Councils ... one has to suggest that local government - councils - should be representing the people, the communities, the ratepayers. Party politics? It appears, after looking across the state, Australia ... one would have to question the effect positive or negative - of a group of Councillors leading local communities via political party allegiances, policies etc. Can this work? Does it work?

Perhaps this is the ‘base’ of the Orange communities apparent concern for their local government representatives ... and disappointments at their elected reps decision-making outcomes as local government reps.

Bob Holland seems to be prepared to place his head on Council and community chopping blocks to encourage change in Orange. With his ‘never, ever give-up’ attitude and approach to life ... maybe Bob Holland may well go down in the Orange history books as a ‘man who effected change when Orange needed it the most” ... or maybe ... “the man who led change”.

Whichever, let’s hope that the people of Orange will support his endeavours ... and at least get behind and join in and help someone who is at least ... trying to make a difference..

For Molong. This week in the Express the draft master plan for the Bank Street precinct is presented on the front page etc. The more visible copies of the dmp can be seen at the front office at Cabonne Council.

The dmp is also available online.

Whilst there hasn’t been huge interest in residents participation to date in commenting on the process in developing this important dmp - reading through past copies of the Molong Express (back 144 years to 2020 today) reveal that the township of Molong operated in the same way. This is, important decision-making was left to a small group - with the wider community not being prepared to participate, nor to be involved.

However, like today - the small group (many through the decades) were victimised, personally (verbally) attacked ... even with one or two fisty cuffs happening along the way. To the point where the resilient Mrs Marion Leathem, the then Editor of the Molong Express (late 1800’s) , made a comment along the lines about those who do not participate - but complain when the decisions are made ... describing the situation as people who should do more to help rather than sit back and criticise ... suggested that they would do better to go out and help the farmers (who were experiencing drought and a downturn)!! Not a bad idea!

Last week, for more, was one of ‘resilience’ with those who sit back attacking those who do. Which amounted to nothing short of people not checking on their information first before shooting from the hip!

Never, ever Give-up

by Rozzi Last week I experienced the personal attacks (yet again) that comes simply from three sources 1. Those who comment on social media WITHOUT checking first the full story (fact gathering).

2. People with an ‘axe to grind’ who mount personal attacks rather than sticking to the issue. ...

3. Attack the ‘tall poppy’.

All of the above made me think about people like our politicians - Andrew Gee MP (Fed. Government), Phil Donato MP (State Government), Kevin Beatty (Cabonne Mayor) and many good people who have represented residents over the years and done a ‘jolly’ good job!

What keeps them going ... what gets them out of bed of a morning ... what gets them through personal attacks??

It must have something to do with their ‘never, ever, give up’ ability to keep on going. Why? Because they believe in what they are doing ... in helping to make better communities, helping to build communities of the future, where residents of all ages can lead good, healthy and safe lives surrounded by a positive environment and opportunities. Think about it! These leaders hold good values, offer respectful manners, and hold a strong belief in what they do and what they offer.

Question is - Do we as residents respect their lives, their work, what they do and achieve each every day every month, every year?

I would say that the majority do. But then there are others who have chosen their own life’s patterns to explore the negatives first. Mostly, ‘ill-informed’ negatives. Attack the person - rather than the issue.

Attack the leader, the tall poppy. Expect more and more of them. Rather than ‘give’ something back to their lives ... Attack personally rather than understand ... or offer to help relieve their (leaders) massive workloads.

Let’s hope that our leaders (and their families) have the resilience to ‘never, ever give-up’ on us - and we ‘never, ever give-up’ on them.

“Molong St John Cadets keep the Beat going on!”

Julie Dean reports On 29 October the Cadets set up their new equipment for Presentation Night.

Guests were Phil Donato MP for Orange, Kevin Beatty Mayor of Cabonne Council and Adrian LoFaro representing Cadia Valley Operations Newcrest Mining Limited. This ceremony is usually held in the Great Hall of Sydney University in recognition of the Service Years given by Volunteers for St John and the local community and presented by the Governor of NSW, but this year COVID restrictions meant that we organised a local ceremony.

Cadet Leader Annalise Livermore was MC for the evening, assisted by Cadet Leader Jade Kirk and Junior member Ashton Arokiaswamy. The Acknowledgment of Country was capably given by Mia Fitzsimmons.

Divisional Superintendent, Julie Dean, said that Molong Cadet Division was very grateful for any support given and appreciated this positive support during her health challenge of the last year.

Julie congratulated all recipients of awards, as well deserved and as young volunteers are awesome role models for the local community.

Phil Donato presented the 2nd & 3rd Bar for the Service Medal to Julie Dean in recognition of 20 and 25 years of voluntary service. Unfortunately, Charlotte Cassell was unable to attend and was awarded the 1st Bar to the Service medal. A special Eternity Award was presented to Elizabeth (Betty) Newstead for her 30+ years and over 6,000 voluntary hours of service to St John and the exemplary role model she provides for volunteering in the community.

Kevin Beatty then presented the following Cadet Service Awards: 1st Year Service Star: Claire Cremona, Abigail Oliver, Jazmin Pietrzak.

2nd Year Service Star Taylah Bliss, Mia Fitzsimmons 3rd Year Service Bar: Annalise Livermore 9 Year Service Bar: Jade Kirk Plaques were awarded to organisations and individuals for their generous contribution to St John.

Mr Adrian LoFaro received a plaque for Cadia Mine to acknowledge their donation. In a written statement the General Manager Aaron Brannigan said “in

October 2019 we donated $8200 to the St John Ambulance in Molong towards patient and volunteers shelter during community events.

St John Ambulance provides a valuable service to our local communities and we are pleased to support their work through this new equipment.” These funds provided for the awnings on the bus and marquees for shelter. Mr Adrian LoFaro presented Mr John Burchett with a company logo for the bus to recognise this sponsorship.

Mr Adrian LoFaro congratulated the Cadets on their commitment to St John and being a volunteer.

He said that they took up the opportunity to learn Life Saving skills that would be transferrable to any workplace and a benefit in any part of their life with family, friends and the community.

Mr Kevin Beatty then presented Mrs Kerry Burchett and Jade Kirk with a Certificate recognising the Small Equipment Grant received, with the support of Mr Andrew Gee MP, which funded the purchase of four new manikins and two laptops to help with the First Aid training and administration of the Division.

A donation by the Rural Fire Service from Cumnock was also recognised.

Volunteer Awards from the Centre for Volunteering NSW were presented by MR Phil Donato and Mr Kevin Beatty to Young Volunteer Nominees: Ashton Arokiaswamy, Jocelyn Behan, Taylah Bliss, Claire Cremona,Mia Fitzsimmons, Dakota O’Keefe, Jazmin Pietrzak, Jade Kirk, Annalise Livermore.

Adult Volunteer Nominees: Deborah Lytton, Elizabeth Newstead, John Burchett, Les Dean, Julie Dean Mr Phil Donato presented Kerry Burchett with the Central West Adult Volunteer of the Year Certificate. She will now go to State Level as a nominee for the State Award on 3 December. Good Luck and best wishes Kerry.

Jocelyn Behan & Taylah Bliss led the Cadets and guests through the Code of Chivalry.

At the end of the program a presentation was shown of photos from this year which included a CPR demonstration by Mrs Dean, Jazmin Pietrzak and Jocelyn Behan at Parkes for the Meals on Wheels Volunteers. (see photos next page)

More stimulus funding for local showgrounds

NSW Nationals Upper House MP Sam Farraway announced over $1.035 million (inc GST) for upgrade work at six regional showgrounds, in the Orange electorate, under the NSW Government’s COVID-19 stimulus program.

“It’s fantastic to report that the stimulus program will back more improvement works in the region while supporting jobs and the economy,” Mr Farraway said.

“It is particularly pleasing to see that The Naylor Pavillion (Orange) will finally be able to be the multifunction facility it was built to be with over $500,000 in funding to install toilet facilities and build a cafeteria.”

Mr Farraway said this latest funding follows the allocation of $651,974 (inc GST) in stimulus funding last financial year for upgrade work at Orange, Canowindra, Manildra, Parkes, Eugowra, Trundle, Molong, Bedgerabong, Forbes, Cumnock, Cudal and Yeoval showgrounds.

Latest funding allocations include: $511,087 for Orange Showground to upgrade its Naylor Pavilion. $155,800 for Peak Hill Showground to remove the old sheep pavilion and replace it with a new building. $152,500 for Bedgerabong Showground to repair and renovate its office block by levelling the floor, reroofing the building, and lining its interior. $117,999 for Molong Showground to construct a new amenities building including toilets, showers, hand basins, dedicated wheelchair toilets and showers, and a laundry. $72,014 for Cudal Showground to upgrade its electrical system to provide more power and power outlets for showground uses; and install a new water system to improve water storage and increase water access points. $26,137 for Eugowra Showground to install a bore, pump and irrigation piping to water the grounds and support more camping and caravanning.

RIC’s regional team set to expand

The regional recruitment campaign follows an additional $50 million in operational funding over four years from 2020-21 that has been allocated by the Federal Government to meet the strong demand for its low interest loans for farmers and farm-related small businesses.

RIC Chief Executive Officer Bruce King said recruiting the new roles is essential to meet the demand for the RIC’s affordable loans and would appoint team members to operate from either its headquarters in Orange NSW or remotely across Australia.

“The RIC has received an incredible amount of demand for our loans, so expanding our team will support us to deliver loans for farmers and farm-related small businesses in a timely way,” said Mr King.

NAIDOC Week

Orange NAIDOC Week kicks off Sunday without the traditional street march but includes an online talent contest, the annual Harmony Cup, a golf day and an Elders Lunch.

Orange NAIDOC Committee Chair Gerald Power said the celebration was scaled down this year due to COVID-19 but the spirit for the week was just as strong and vibrant as it was every year.

“The national theme for this year’s NAIDOC Week is Always Was, Always Will Be [Aboriginal land!]. As we reflect on and explore our nation’s history, all 65,000 years of history, our nation’s First Peoples navigated the land, farmed the land, studied and learned from the land,” Mr Power said.

“The theme investigates how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples adapted to the changing environment, survived and thrived during drought, bush fires and rising sea levels.

As well as looking at the innovative ways our First Peoples managed the land, such as fire stick farming.”

Orange NAIDOC Week begins with a small group of local Elders, and community members participating in a smoking ceremony, flag raising ceremony and an official welcome on Monday, November 9. The Orange Regional Museum grassed roof will be painted with a NAIDOC theme.

Halloween in 2020: We still love it

By Emily Gobourg Though it’s certainly not typically recognised as an Australian tradition, Halloween has been growing increasingly popular in our country each year – with department stores stocking hair-raising costumes, and frightening accessories for people to participate in the spookily exciting event.

Celebrated each year on October 31st, history.com says that the Halloween tradition originated in Ireland with the "ancient Celtic festival of Samhain" (pronounced sow-in) – where people would light bonfires, and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.

In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III reportedly designated November 1st as a time to honour all saints – soon, All Saints Day then incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later – Halloween.

Over time, Halloween has made it’s way across national borders, and evolved into a day of activities involving “Trick-or-Treating”, carving jack-olanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes, and then later eating treats – a holiday now also adopted largely by the United States of America.

While it’s certainly not a day of holiday that’s suited to everyone, for the past seven years, many of our Molong kids have been seen dressing up in scary costumes, and taking to the streets with bags and buckets to collect lollies from participating households – and this is thanks to Tracey Harvey, who set up an

online Facebook event page called “The Safe House List” – where families have been able to opt in to distribute lollies if they wish, where they’ll fly a balloon from their letterbox to flag their participation, and when the lollies are out – so too are the balloons.

Due to Covid, celebrating Halloween was understandably different this year – with the NSW Health guidelines releasing full “Trick-or-Treating” regulations on the government website. Some guidelines listed said “make it a front-yard event, not at the front-door of your house, keep celebrations outdoors and get creative in decorating the front yard; only hand out individually wrapped treats; offer hand sanitiser at your front gate or fence,” and, “for everyone to stay 1.5 meters away from people not living at the same residence.”

While Tracey explained how most years their (incredibly fun and spooky) residence on October 31st could see anywhere up to 350 to 400 Molong kids, this year there were only around 60 ghostly visitors – a vast change in numbers to prior years.

Some households in Molong chose to host small gatherings for kids in their backyards as an alternative – limiting the number of people to no more than 20 persons, as per NSW Health guidelines as well.

Hopefully the coming years sees treatgoers and spooky households back to the Halloween norm again in the future.

From what we could see, the participants still made the most of the entertaining event!

Eden Decor and Gifts: The small-town store attached to nothing short of a metal miracle

The famous “Praying Jack” – a metal miracle (Continued from page 6) Having already sold rain gauges in the decor shop, Justin used his creativity to cut the piece in a way where his dad would be depicted holding a rain gauge. The Lampe’s held onto the original masterpiece, using extra metal to knock up a second piece for Justin’s mum.

Following a post to social media, extended family members back in Coonamble asked for a same special piece of their own, with the couple also putting Jack in the shop window – because everyone was praying for rain. Sales then began to kick-off immediately, with over 60 orders flooding in.

Caught by the eye of a city reporter from the ABC, “Praying Jack” soon started to become known on a nation-wide scale – where news and social media sites were touched by the piece’s backstory, and they saw more orders, in excess of 100 this time. With the ABC then running a news story on television, and a Getaway show special with the theme Buy from the Bush – “Praying Jack” started to put Molong on the map even more.

The Lampe’s knew in their hearts that these sales were a sign from Justin’s dad – so they stuck with the plasma

machine, churned incredible metal art works out, and the rest became history.

Last year’s firefighter calendar boys also promoted Eden Decor and Gifts via social media pages on both their Facebook and Instagram platforms – another massive help with getting the business out there, steadying income, and showcasing talent we have right here in our backyards.

Restricting fencing work to alleviate council with big jobs only, Justin could then reduce his labour to ease further injury, and the Lampe’s were able to put another labourer on to help out – which now allows Justin to produce plasma pieces, full-time.

“Justin’s a gun welder. He’s so humble, but he’s incredibly talented,” Tania stated.

Rather humble herself, Tania also produces beautiful, handmade products for the home – from passionfruit and paw paw melts, coconut and lime candles, and Epsom salt soaks with rose botanicals and essential oils – to creatively transparent exfoliating bars of soap – where you can literally see small chunks of Himalayan salt all set in the top layer.

“Everything we’re doing now is working. It’s all paying it’s way,” Justin said.

Trying to promote local businesses while still promoting their own, is perhaps one of the best parts about the Eden store as well.

Woodwork is sourced from the men’s shed; towels are embroidered by a now retired local lady; a 16-year-old girl hand-makes scrunchies and hair clips, while a 14 year-old-girl hand-makes earrings and key rings; their son Sam paints pictures, which are then printed and sold as cards; wine glasses are handcrafted by local woman Rae Bruce, and a photographer from Cumnock redresses the shop window on a monthly basis – and again, the above are just to name a few of the talented contributors.

“We’re passionate Molong people,” Tania said. “We’re trying to get a shop that is a Cabonne shop – so that if we don’t make it – someone in Cabonne does. We’re trying to get a shop that says ‘this is the essence of us’ – of Molong, of the people of Cabonne.”

Store manager, Rikki Philpott, echoed this – explaining how “everything is us now”, and how proud the Lampe’s are.

“Justin was a miracle worker with “Praying Jack”, everything just boomed. We went from maybe five sales a week in the beginning, to 20 sales – and then at

Christmas time – we could barely keep up, with over 200 orders coming in.”

Tania and Justin described Rikki as someone who has been there since the start of it all,from the early fencing days. Rikki would drop decor off all around Orange when sales started booming, and she managed the online sales with a breeze. “(Rikki’s) just been amazing,” the Lampe couple said.

“She’s been there through our darkest days – she’s cried with us, she’s pushed us, she’s even offered to work without pay. At the business awards, she stood up with her arms in the air like we’d won gold at the Sydney Olympics. We can’t even begin to describe how much Rikki means to our family.”

Eden Decor and Gifts were the proud winners of the 2019 Daroo Business Award for Best Ongoing Business – Small Entity, Best in Service Operations, and won the award for the Cabonne Business that has thrived through adversity.

Due to market restrictions from the pandemic, online “virtual markets” have now been launched to help niche businesses to get their products out there, and to keep business flowing. Proudly supporting Australianmade products from small Australian businesses, the “Handmade in Canberra” markets will see Eden Decor and Gifts debut a first online appearance on November 7th this coming weekend, under the category of “Outdoor/ Garden” sales.

While the Lampe family remain proud of how they’ve resurfaced stronger than ever, they are adamant that this is achieved because of who we are as townspeople, how we unify to overcome struggles, and what we all offer.

“We have such amazing talent here, and its a very humble town because no one brags about the gifts they have – but why shouldn’t we be proud? Our Cabonne people are just incredible. We’ve never been prouder to belong to this community.”

REGULATOR INVESTIGATES CHARLES STURT UNIVERSITY There has been enormous community concern over the future of CSU, particularly when it is shedding jobs in big numbers.

I asked for a copy of the KPMG report into CSU’s financial position, as the University’s Council passed a resolution which agreed to provide the Australian Government with one. I then had a meeting with CSU about the report but they did not provide me or the Australian Government with a copy in accordance with the resolution. CSU then wrote back to me declining to provide a copy of the report.

Our communities are entitled to transparency, particularly when the Australian Government is providing an $18 billion funding guarantee to universities to support them through the COVID-19 pandemic, and an additional $400 million for the country university sector under the Jobs-ready Graduates Package.

I welcome action taken by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) to investigate a range of issues relating to Charles Sturt University (CSU).

TEQSA is the independent, federal university regulator.

Last week in Senate Estimates, a representative of TEQSA said they were undertaking an investigation of CSU and indicated that their work would be finalised in 2021.

TEQSA’s work will provide the Australian Government and the community with confidence.

I am now awaiting the conclusion of TEQSA’s work and like everyone I want to see an outcome that allows CSU to grow and succeed.

If the independent regulator finds a clean bill of health – there won’t be anyone happier than me. If however, TEQSA finds that there are issues that need to be addressed then the community will expect this to occur. It is critical that we have a country university sector that can continue to deliver for our communities and educate our country workforce now and into the future.

I am a champion of CSU and all regional universities, and I want to see a strong and successful university in our community.

Our mens sheds are assets to the Central West community and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we need them more than ever to provide men with an avenue for social support and engagement.

Not only do mens sheds provide enormous support to men in their district, they do a lot of great work for people in need as well as odd jobs around town.

This new grant round is about helping our 'shedders' through the pandemic and beyond, with priority given to applications that have a strong health, well being and safety emphasis.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the great pleasure of visiting mens sheds around the Cabonne region, and seeing the great use they have made of these grants.

Storage and warehousing will be a huge issue this harvest, with options ranging from delivery to approved silo complexes, on farm silo storage, on farm grain bags and open on farm bunkers. Warehousing fees can vary from around $1 per tonne per month for on farm storage up to a maximum of $2 per tonne per month in a GrainCorp silo. I understand GrainCorp do not charge for the delivery month and the two months following delivery, so total warehousing fees in a GrainCorp silo would be three months at $2 per tonne – a total warehousing fee of $6.00 per tonne.

Finally, the insurance costs against storage losses will depend on where the grain is stored. For the safest storages, such as approved silo complexes, it is likely to be around $0.50 per tonne per month, with the riskiest storage such as open on farm bunkers, it will be around $2.50 per tonne per month. If we assume the mid-range of $1.50 per tonne per month the risk management costs will be $9.00 per tonne for six months.

So the potential costs of such a system would be $2.76 + 6.00 + 9.00 = $17.76 per tonne.

The final variable is the difference in the price of wheat between harvest and June – July the following year, but it is usually at least $45 to $50 per tonne, and in some seasons depending on the northern hemisphere crop and international price the difference can be as much as $100 per tonne higher than the harvest price.

The whole issue of grain trading needs to be reviewed, with a process put in place where a grower can be paid for a proportion of his grain at harvest, but maintain ownership of his grain until such time as the price invariably increases some months after harvest. This is similar to the way the old Australian Wheat Board operated – deliver your grain to the AWB silo (remember though you did not really have an option as your wheat had to be delivered to the AWB), receive your first payment and then the AWB was responsible for marketing your wheat.

You may have received additional

benefit to the grower would be as shown in the table below.

This benefit of $25 to $50 per tonne is much needed by growers following three years of drought and the extra benefit to regional communities as this extra cash goes around the community three or four times will benefit every small business in every town in the central west.

The time is right to transfer the potential profit from the international grain traders back into the pockets of small business in the bush.

Annabelles Kitchen Annabelle is back cooking at the club on Saturday evenings from 6 pm.

Badge Draw The badge draw is back on Saturday evenings.

Molong Women’s Bowls Consistency Bowls Ladies Consistency Bowls were played on Friday afternoon between Margo Brown and Jodi Murray, the conditions were ideal.

The game remained locked until midway through the competition, where Jodi slowly built a winning margin during the latter stages to take the win.

Overall the bowlers produced a very competitive game. Well done.

Next round of Consistency Bowls Due to rescheduling the next game is to be played on Friday 6/11/20 at 2:30 pm between Hazel Hamilton and Di Wilson. Any interested in supporting, are invited to attend

Margot & Jodi’s close game

The Ladies Last Wednesday we managed to get in 6 holes of golf before the rain came. We then enjoyed the company of our past golfers for lunch at Sweetness.

Next Wednesday 11th will be an 8.30 tee off. *************************** Sunday Mixed Golf: We had 19 players enjoy Royal Molong last Sunday with a few visitors out from Orange. We played 12 holes.

Unfortunately we couldn’t play 18 holes due to the wet weather and not able to get all the fairways mowed. Thanks to Dave, Drew, Scott and Kerry for doing what they could between showers.

The group I played with had mixed feelings about how to use the scraper. However, we survived the controversy.

Winners on the day were Troy with Mark as runner-up. After play we all enjoyed a BBQ and a couple of refreshments. Next Week there will be a 2 person Ambrose draw for partners on arrival.
