The two entrepreneurs have spent many months researching, travelling, training, tasting, sourcing the best in coffee, drinks, foods, recipes, giftware and homewares to bring to Molong and district something uniquely different.

Molong is on the move. We thank Sally and Kate for adding to the Molong success story and for their investment and belief in this district.

Molong township was hit by a tunnel of wind last Friday afternoon when the clouds gathered, rain fell with hail following. Then a fierce tunnel of wind surprised residents in Phillip Street, Edward Street, Gidley Street and Betts Street.

One residence lost its tin room with others reporting the loss of roof tiles, a carport, the loss of tree limbs, with one giant conifer uprooted from the ground in Phillip Street.

SES and other volunteer organisations helped to place tarpaulin over homes and building soon after the storm to protect the residents.

Molong takes its turn We can talk about challenges ... meeting those challenges ... resilience ... never, ever give up attitude ... good people ... a loyal local and district community.

How come Molong is progressing ... whilst other same size towns across rural Australia have stalled ... with some facing decline?

Whilst Molong and district has been challenged many a time by external factors ... the very soul, the internal fabric of the town and district has stood and faced the challenges - and worked together to figure out the way forward.

Although each cops a lot of flack ... they have succeeded in helping Molong, today, to the progressive town we have become.

The main impetus has come from 2 sources 1) Each and every resident who has never, ever given up on ‘their town’. In today’s world Molong can boast a very high percentage of residents, both in town and district, who continue to shop, support, and contribute their time freely to the greater good of Molong.

of these have provided employment.

Today, the ‘small towns growth’ academics would have to agree that Molong is a town of the ‘now’ and the ‘future’.

Why? 1. Location...location...location 2. Leadership 3. Community resilience and positive ability to meet and lead ‘change’ - for the better for all residents.

We hear it all at the Express - the positives and the negatives that comes with an interesting diversity of community and mix of varying demographics living and working together.

A changing community that can still offer what visitors and tourists refer to as ‘charming’, ‘quaint’, ‘quiet, ... safe livable, interesting.

Opportunities? Molong is a town of business opportunities for those who are willing to seek and find, research and plan, take a ‘calculated’ risk, roll up their sleeves and invest - both $$’s and time.

Kerry Burchett is 2020 NSW Volunteer of the Year winner The Centre for Volunteering recently announcrd the 2020 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award recipients for the Central West region.

Among them was Adult Volunteer of the Year – Kerry Burchett from Molong.

Kerry, together with husband John, has been volunteering with St John Molong Cadet Division for the past 25 years. She now leads the division, looking after equipment, supplies and logistics.

She also conducts weekly training for the team of volunteers as well as providing first aid at dozens of community events each year.

Kerry was a founding member of the Molong St John Ambulance Cadets, which is one of only two that continue to operate in regional NSW. Volunteers from across Central West were recognised for their outstanding contributions at a special virtual ceremony for the

John & Kerry Burchett 2020 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards on Thursday.

About 100 guests, volunteers and community leaders came together for the virtual event to recognise and celebrate the region’s volunteers.

Well done Kerry for sharing your life to help young people find their lives.

“I am really excited about the Africian Drumming workshop, we have a gentleman coming up from Bathurst to run this”, said Cheryn.

The goal is to gauge if we have enough community interest to run an African drumming class each week - aimed towards our young people. There is really great evidence that indicates that this can really support and improve our young generations mental health.”

Councils sign new cooperative agreement

Blayney, Cabonne and Orange Councils have formed a new strategic alliance to work on better cooperation and joint initiatives.

Leaders of the three councils met to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to guide the new relationship.

The MOU agreement states the three councils will be “working collaboratively and sharing resources (to).. achieve economies of scale, build capacity and increase workplace productivity and ensure the long term financial sustainability of each individual council.”

Blayney Mayor Cr Scott Ferguson said he was pleased to be signing the agreement.

“Staff from the three councils have already been working cooperatively for years and we want to extend that,” Cr Scott Ferguson said.

“We’re already doing a lot together in the areas of tourism and waste management, but there’s room to do a lot more.”

Cabonne Mayor Cr Kevin Beatty believes there are many benefits of cooperation.

“The way the Netwaste network operates offers a good model for this new way forward together,” Cr Kevin Beatty said. “We can negotiate a better deal with waste contractors by working together in an area like recycling, but at the same time we can each continue to operate different systems of local bins and by choosing to buy into the elements that suit local communities.”

Orange Mayor Cr Reg Kidd is optimistic about the potential for the future.

“The new MOU gets the balance right between a commitment to work on the projects we have in common, while retaining our local identity,” Cr Reg Kidd said. “It makes it clear that each Council will continue independently as its own entity, and that’s the best way to deliver better value for our communities.”

The preliminary topics on the list for shared activity includes: • Joint tenders and purchasing arrangements • Open exchange and sharing of technical expertise and information • Workforce and staff secondment, professional development opportunities • Cross border roads construction and maintenance • Councillor and staff training • Review and coordination of strategic documents • Sharing of services and plant • Regional economic development and strategy

Cabonne Deputy Mayor Re-elected unopposed

Water rising is a dam good sight

Orange City is on level two water restrictions as the combined water storage level hit the trigger point of 60 per cent overnight.

The last time the combined storage level of Spring Creek Dam and Suma Park Dam was 60 per cent, was in April 2018.

Today Suma Park is at 50.71%. Spring Creek is at 100% with water flowing at a height of 97 mm over the spillway. Combined storage is at 60.05%.

Orange Mayor Reg Kidd said previously, residents had lived with level two water restrictions regardless of how far above 60 per cent the storage level of the dams.

“I congratulate the whole city on getting us through this difficult drought,” Cr Kidd said.

“Orange has been a leader in the state in terms of water saving and we have set a benchmark for other cities.

“I could not be more proud of how the whole city banded together to conserve our water, and stave off harsher restrictions.

“We’re heading into summer with a good amount of water in the dams so it is time now to ease our restrictions back to level two, the odds and evens system.

“We have previously lived with the odds and evens system for over a decade regardless of how high the storage levels in the dam were above 60 per cent.

“Saving water is second nature to us here in Orange.

“Our independent modelling is showing steady increases in the combined storage for quite some time into the future.

“We must keep up the good work and use water where we need to but be mindful about wastage.

“We still need to make every drop count but it’s great that this summer we’ll be able to reap the rewards of a well looked after vegie garden and the kids will be able to jump into backyard pools and the littlies will be able to splash about in those inflatable paddle pools.

“After a tough year it’ll be good to hear the sounds of summer.”

Orange City Council’s Infrastructure Committee Chair Jeff Whitton said the steps Council had taken in previous years to help secure Orange’s supply had paid off.

“We would have been a lot worse off if we hadn’t raised the dam wall four years ago and without stormwater harvesting or the Macquarie Pipeline,” he said.

“The systems we put in place, along with the commitment to reduce water use from the community, has seen us through this difficult time.”

Cabonne Council’s Deputy Mayor Jamie Jones has been re-elected unopposed for his second term in the role.

Cr Jones was the only nomination for the position.

His re-election continues an unchanged leadership team for the council, with Mayor Kevin Beatty entering the second year of an automatic two-year term, after being re-elected as Mayor last september.

Cr Beatty congratulated Cr Jones on his reelection and thanked him for his work in the previous term. “I look forward to working together in the next twelve months,” he said.

Soy, oat, almond, rice, coconut, dairy: which ‘milk’ is best for our health?

A trip to the supermarket presents shoppers with an overwhelming number of milk choices. And far from just being the domain of the modern hipster, plant-based milk alternatives are going mainstream.

These alternatives may be suitable for people who are intolerant to dairy milk, or have ethical or other personal preferences. They tend to be lower in saturated fats and energy than dairy milk, but also lower in protein (except soy) and calcium (unless fortified). Some are also high in added sugars.

As to which milk is best, there’s no simple answer. Dairy milk tends to come out on top for nutrient quality, though soy is a good substitute from a nutrition perspective. And it should be noted these alternatives aren’t technically milks, as they’re not derived from mammals.

Nevertheless, the nutritional quality of the different alternatives varies considerably, so it’s important to take note of these differences when making a selection.

Dairy milk

Milk provides us with important nutrients including calcium, protein, vitamin B12, vitamin A, vitamin D, riboflavin (B2), zinc, phosphorus and iodine. The quantity and quality of cow’s milk proteins is high, with both whey and casein containing all nine essential amino acids. Milk plays an important role in bone health and is a particularly rich source of dietary calcium.

Research investigating the ability of the body to absorb and utilise calcium determined the best-absorbed calcium source is dairy milk and its derivatives.

Although dairy foods do contain some saturated fats, the fat in dairy doesn’t seem to be overly problematic for heart health. A large study featuring people from 21 countries, published in 2018, found dairy consumption was associated with lower risk of heart disease and death.

Although dairy milk has a high nutritional value, there’s no reason why people need to drink it if they choose not to. All of the nutrients in milk can be obtained elsewhere in the diet.

Soy

DELIVERY IN MOLONG

If you’re seeking a dairyfree alternative, then soy is a good choice (though some people may be intolerant to soy). It’s made from ground soy beans or soy protein powder, water and vegetable oils and is usually fortified with vitamins and minerals i n c l u d i n g calcium.

A 2017 study found soy fared considerably better than other milk alternatives including almond, soy, rice and coconut varieties in terms of nutritional profile.

Available in full-fat and low-fat versions, soy is a good source of plant protein, carbohydrates, B vitamins and most are fortified with calcium making it nutritionally comparable to dairy milk. The ability of the body to absorb and utilise the added calcium in soy drink is approaching that of dairy milk. One study indicated calcium from fortified soy drink was absorbed at 75% the efficiency of calcium from dairy milk, though there appears to be limited data on this.

It typically contains more protein than other plantbased alternatives, and contains healthy unsaturated fats and fibre.

It also contains compounds called phytoestrogens.

Phytoestrogens are natural plant compounds that imitate the body’s own natural oestrogen but to a lesser extent. There was initially some speculation based on earlier animal studies about potential adverse effects of phytoestrogens on the risk of breast cancer and hyperthyroidism. However, studies conducted in humans don’t support this.

Conversely, there is some evidence to suggest they may have a protective effect against some cancers. A review study from 2019 found soy consumption is more beneficial than harmful. In a position statement on soy, phytoestrogens and cancer prevention, the Cancer Council of Australia supports the consumption of soy foods in the diet but doesn’t recommend high dose phytoestrogen supplementation, especially for women with existing breast cancer.

Almond

Nut drinks such as almond consist mainly of ground nuts and water.

Despite almonds being a good plant source of protein, almond drink is significantly lower in protein and calcium than dairy milk. Consumers should take care with almond drink to ensure essential nutrients are met elsewhere in the diet.

In a 2017 survey of widely available commercial almond milks, consumer group Choice found almond drink contained only 2-14% almonds, with water being the predominant ingredient.

It tends to be low in energy and saturated fat and contains some healthy unsaturated fats as well as vitamin E, manganese, zinc and potassium.

Almond drink often contains added sugars. Terms to keep an eye on include those indicating added sugars, such as organic rice syrup, agave syrup, organic evaporated cane juice, raw sugar, or organic corn maltodextrin. It’s best to look for unsweetened varieties if you can.

dairy milk and soy, but isn’t suitable for those with nut allergies.

If you’re using almond milk as an alternative to dairy milk and wanting similar nutritional benefits, look for one that’s fortified with calcium aiming for as close to 115-120mg per 100mL (similar to dairy milk) as possible.

Oat

Oat milk is made by blending oats and water and straining off the liquid. It’s a source of fibre, vitamin E, folate and riboflavin. It’s low in fat and is naturally sweet, containing double the carbohydrates of cow’s milk, so it may not be suitable for people with diabetes.

It tends to be low in both protein and calcium, so look for a fortified brand. It’s not suitable for people with a gluten intolerance, nor is it a nutritionally adequate substitute for young children.

Coconut

Coconut milk is low in protein and carbohydrates, and high in saturated fat. Some brands have added sugars.

Similar to nut drinks, it doesn’t naturally contain calcium and isn’t a suitable substitute for dairy milk nutritionally.

Rice

Rice drink is produced from milled rice and water. It’s naturally high in carbohydrate and sugars, and has a high glycaemic index meaning the glucose is quickly released into the blood which may mean it’s not suitable for people with diabetes. It’s also particularly low in protein and needs to be calcium fortified.

Rice is the least likely to trigger allergies of all of the milk alternatives. However, it’s not a suitable milk substitute, particularly for children, due to its low nutrient quality.

Ultimately, when deciding which plant-based alternative to drink, you should choose fortified and preferably unsweetened varieties. Also, look for those with a calcium content as close to 115-120mg per 100ml (or 300mg per cup) as possible, as this is similar to dairy milk.

Your choice should also take into account your overall diet and nutrient requirements. This is especially important for children, adolescents, older adults and those following a restricted diet. Finally, factors such as flavour, taste, texture and mouth feel are all important considerations.

The Australian Government is extending the temporary JobKeeper Payment to the end of March 2021. From 28 September, businesses must meet the turnover test and submit their declarations by the 14th of each month.

There will be two new payment rates – one for those who work more than 20 hours per week in the relevant period, and another for those who work less. The employee eligibility date has also changed to 1 July, meaning some businesses could claim for more staff.

With the 2020 show cancelled Lisa organised the 2020 children’s art competition to continue with entries displayed in shop and business windows in town.

All of the art was incredibly good - colours, brush strokes, pen strokes ... colour blending perfect.

Acting as a historical hub for the community, where both pioneer and modern memories have been preserved since 1970, The Molong Museum met its latest historical treasure – a portrait that has been ‘brought back home’ as of last week.

Presented in the form of a special 100th year anniversary painting of the original Molong Express building, the artwork was painted 44 years ago (in 1976), by the wildly talented, well-known and esteemed artist, Anne-Marie Ingham.

Norm Bloomfield, owner and operator of The Molong Express for around 50 years, had reportedly commissioned two paintings to be created: one for each of his two great friends – David (and Win) Rae, and ‘The Thomas Family’ – which were gifted to these families 100 years after The Molong Express’ year of birth in 1876.

Members from the Historical Society, Bob Sullivan (President), Sue Milne (Museum Secretary), Helen Haynes (Molong RSL Portrait Gallery), and John and Julie Laurie (Committee members), were among some of the feverish members who eagerly awaited the arrival of a woman from Camden, by the name of Stacey Taylor - daughter of Dave and Win Rae. “We were all so excited about (the painting).

It was a really wonderful moment for the museum,” said Sue Milne.

Stacey presented the commemorative anniversary painting last Wednesday, 23 September, 2020, depicting the original Molong Express building: a building where hundreds, upon hundreds of newspaper articles were resourcefully written and published for our local community, for so many years. Anne-Marie’s portrait includes the old ‘Stock & Station’ store right alongside it, with many of the detailed trimmings we can still recognise on the old Bank Street building today.

Also present for the ‘artwork-returninghome’ event, was Abbey Ingham – proud granddaughter of artist Anne-Marie Ingham, along with Abbey’s all of five-month-old daughter – Anne-Marie’s great granddaughter.

Evidently, a proud generational moment for the Ingham family tree.

Having first opened its doors on November 30th of 1970, The Molong Historical Museum will celebrate 50 years of operation later this year. Albeit, Museum Secretary (Sue Milne), explained how they are in great need of more local volunteers to join their ranks; in order to continue unveiling and preserving the many hidden wonders of our town.

“We’ve been doing a project on Bank Street for the last few years to grab whatever (information) we can. We need more volunteers though, to be able to help us gather and store that (important) information.”

For any Molong folk interested in being a part of our town’s Historical Society, and able to lend a helping hand, Sue can be found floating around on their Tuesday or Thursday opening days, from 10:00am to 3:30pm. Sue Milne can also be contacted via phone for those interested, on 0400 425 015.

Anne-Marie Ingham’s newest addition is said to be settling in very well. This remarkable piece is now able to be admired in the main display room at the Historical Molong Museum on Riddell Street.

Spring has arrived- and while the flowers are blooming- so is the population of honey bees.

During the colder winter months, bee populations survive by living off the storage of honey that was created the year before.

In spring time, the bees are able to go out and replenish their stocks, so as to survive another winter.

In Spring, colonies get bigger and bigger until they outgrow their hive or nest space, and the colony starts to create new queen bees. Once new Queen Bees have been created, the old Queen will leave to start her own colony, often taking a good portion of the worker bees from her original hive with her. It is due to the movement of the Queen and the colony, that swarming of bees is so frequent in the Spring time.

The warmer weather congestion and increase in pollen production also plays a role in swarming.

Jody and John Oxman, of Ainesleah Honey and Pollination in Cumnock, gave us an insight into the life of bees and how to relocate a swarm if necessary. ‘’On September 16th, a swarm of bees was located at the Cumnock park. Thankfully Matt Robards from Cabonne Council and Paula

Rudd from the Cumnock General Store contacted me about the swarm’’, John said. ‘’We went down with an empty bee box and placed it near them in the hope they would make it a home’’, said John, ‘’the bees started heading inside the box almost immediately and within a few hours, all the bees had made their home inside the box, and are now living on Ainesleah Farm.’’

The relocation of the bees was the best possible outcome for both the bees, and Jody and John, as well as the greater Cumnock population. ‘’If ever you do come across a swarm of bees, do not try to kill or interfere with them. This will aggravate them and you will most likely get stung.’’ John said.

He recommends that if you do find a swarm, to contact him, just as Matt and Paula did.

Ainesleah Honey and Pollination started in 2017, and was awarded second prize in the 2018 Royal Easter show for their creamy honey.

“Rows-his-own-boat-Red.”

Well, it seems some of us may already know of this cheeky guy from the walls of Spread the Word in Molong. “Red” – part of a four-pup litter – was born in June of 2019, and (ironically titled), was the only Blue Cattle dog out of his Red Cattle sibling group.

Orphaned unexpectedly early, Red and his siblings were bottle-fed from around a week or so old. Forming a particularly close bond with his bottle-feeding owner, Red’s siblings all found homes – while Red stayed behind with his best mate and proud owner – where they’ve remained one another’s shadows ever since.

Super friendly and mostly always quiet, the

only time Red is known to verbally express himself starts as soon as the engine turns over, while he’s standing on the tray of his best mate’s ute – where he’ll then happily exercise his puppy lungs from Molong, all the way to Dubbo... and then all the way back.

It’s said that if you see Red taking a stroll around Molong, his primary goal is to reunite himself with his shadow – something that the top pub goers apparently know all too well – where Red will sometimes even beat his shadow to Friday afternoon knock-off beers.

Daniel Andrews’ Sunday announcement of some modest steps out of lockdown will bring both relief and reassurance to many Victorians, but frustration to those who think he should move faster.

Certainly the Morrison government wants the state to take bigger strides.

As the federal government finalises next week’s budget, with a deficit for this financial year of a magnitude none of us have seen before and large red numbers into the future, Morrison, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Health Minister Greg Hunt applied the blow torch to the premier.

“It will be important that more be done in the weeks ahead to safely ease more restrictions,” they said in a joint statement.

“We note that at similar case levels NSW was fundamentally open while remaining Covidsafe due to a world class contact tracing facility.

“As many epidemiologists have encouraged, we would support Victoria in reviewing the trigger of five and zero cases with regards to the third and last steps.

“As it stands this lockdown is already longer than that faced by residents in many cities around the world. We remain deeply concerned about the mental health impacts of a prolonged lock down on Melbourne residents,” they said.

Andrews has responded to a more rapid than expected fall in new cases, and says he will now be driven by numbers rather than dates.

But there is every indication he will continue to be risk averse, after the disaster of the second wave, and on the evidence of last week’s Newspoll, he has public support for that approach. Some 62% of Victorians thought he was handling COVID-19 well.

Andrews has become a highly polarising figure in the pandemic and that’s only likely to increase after his and other evidence to the inquiry into hotel quarantine, followed by Saturday’s resignation of Health Minister Jenny Mikakos.

In contrast to his demeanour at his news conferences, when appearing before the inquiry on Friday, Andrews seemed to be barely containing his anger.

Morrison government’s message to Daniel Andrews: ‘open faster’

He, like a conga line of witnesses, couldn’t say who had decided to use private security guards to supervise the quarantine.

But he made it clear he held Mikakos responsible for the program.

She, however, thought responsibility spread more widely and indicated her resignation was triggered by Andrews throwing her under the bus.

It continues to be unfathomable to most observers that no one – whether minister, bureaucrat or anyone else – can answer the fundamental but on the face of it simple question: who made the decision about the private security guards?

But Kristen Rundle, from Melbourne University’s Law School, is not so surprised, given the often opaque accountability situations created by contracting out, increasingly a default practice of governments around the country.

She writes in a policy brief titled Reassessing Contracting-Out published last week, that “we need to look beyond standard mechanisms of political accountability in order to address the structural problems posed by contracting-out high-stakes government functions.

“Specifically, we need to analyse more deeply the appropriateness of contracting-out in cases that carry serious consequences for public safety and security, and develop frameworks to achieve better decisionmaking on when, and whether, to contract out complex government functions.

“The failures in this case underscore that choices about who delivers such government functions, and how, matter to those directly affected by them.”

Clearly the Victorian disaster had three root causes: the bad quarantine arrangements, the failure of Victorian contact tracing and the vulnerability of aged care.

The first two can be completely sheeted home to the Victorian government; aged care is a federal g o v e r n m e n t responsibility, although the state government is responsible for the public health aspects.

A n d r e w s ’ supporters aren’t too preoccupied with the state government’s mistakes.

They believe he has put health first (despite the death toll, which has been overwhelmingly in aged care). They have been impressed by his willingness to front up day after day to those extended news conferences. They see that as a sign of accountability.

The premier’s critics look at the news conferences in a totally different way. Andrews’ physical presence is not a mark of accountability, they argue, because he pushes aside vital questions (often repeated again and again), saying they must wait for the inquiry’s findings.

Many of Andrews’ strongest critics are those who believe the economy and people’s livelihoods have not received sufficient consideration generally in the pandemic. They are outraged at the economic costs of Victoria’s second wave, and at the slowness of the reopening.

The divisions have an ideological element between the priorities of the left and the right during the crisis.

Mikakos’ quitting has renewed the calls from those who say it is the premier who should go.

There doesn’t seem a lot of common sense in this.

Andrews has said he accepts ultimate responsibility for what’s happened. So he should – what’s occurred in Victoria has been appalling.

But would his going actually do any good? Would a replacement perform any better? Would a change of leader amount to anything more than a notch on the critics’ belts?

While Andrews remains the best person for the current job, the pandemic has revealed serious inadequacies in his government, and thus in his leadership, and in parts of the state’s administration.

Sheep 23 Sept

It was a very good quality yarding with a good selection of both trade and heavy weight new season lambs throughout.

There were also some very good heavy weight old lambs yarded along with a couple of pens of well finished Merino lambs. A full field of buyers competed in a solid market.

Trade weight new season lambs were $5 to $8 dearer selling from $146 to $185/ head to average between 740c and 780c/ kg cwt. The few trade weight old lambs sold from $138 also to $185/head. Heavy weight lambs were $6 to $9 dearer with the new season lambs over 24kg selling from $176 to $215/head. Heavy weight old lambs sold from $178 to $230/head to average between 640c and 690c/kg cwt. Merino lambs were firm with trade weights selling from $133 to $166/head.

The restockers paid from $136 to $154 for young new season lambs and hoggets sold to $165/head.

It was a mostly good quality yarding of mutton where the Merino sheep were firm to $5 cheaper and the crossbreds were $7/head cheaper. Merino ewes sold from $104 to $145 while the crossbred ewes sold from $98 to $174/head. Merino wethers sold to $170/head. The restockers paid $155 for Merino ewe lambs and $129/head for aged Merino ewes.

Cattle 22 Sept

It was a good quality yarding with a good selection of prime young cattle along with the usual pens of well finished grown steers and heifers. The cows in the yarding were also very good. There was also a few pens of useful weaners suitable for the restockers. The usual field of buyers were in attendance and operating.

Young cattle to the trade were up to 13c dearer with prime vealers selling to 442c/ kg. Prime steer yearlings sold from 385c to 428c while the prime heifer yearlings sold from 375c to 432c/kg. Feeder steers were 8c dearer while the feeder heifers were firm. Feeder steers sold from 392c to 422c while the feeder heifers sold from 364c to 400c/kg. Season gets underway 10 Oct

In an excellent hard fought game which unfortunately saw Craig Troth spend too much time on 19, Chris Beatty went ahead to take out this year’s Club Championship.

Molong’s world famous bowls brag commences on Friday 16 October

Greg Pringle advises that the Molong Cricket Season 20/21 commences on 10 October 2020.

The draw for round 1 is below.

Competition is reduced from 7 teams to 6 teams with the unfortunate withdrawal of All Stars leaving just two Molong teams.

Three rounds this season compared to just two last season. Due to even number of teams there will be no bye.

4 week break over Xmas / New Year.

Top 4 teams to play in finals (not 5 as last season) Grand Final to be played on 6/3/21 with a contingency spare weekend on 13/3/21 in the case of a washed out GF. If the Rec is too wet on the spare weekend

Nominations close 9 October. Nominate your team of 3 or just yourself and join the best Friday social night out in the southern hemisphere.

No bye on Aust day in 2021 as it falls on a Tuesday and is not a long weekend.

We believe new lights are going to be errected at the REC if this occurs during our season we will run a night T20 competition mid week. I will keep you up to date on that one.

Molong Assoc’s is returning to the Royal Hotel Cup mid week day / night T20. It is imperative we have our best team compete.

There are a number of Covid19 risks that have been addressed to ensure all players, & spectators safety this season.

Molong Cup disc golf tournament

Molong Golf Last Wednesday we played a 9 hole Stableford with Ann Wood the winner on the day.

On Monday we catered for 58 Vets who all complimented us on the course and the meal, a big thank you to all those that spent a lot of Sunday getting the course looking so good.

Next Wednesday 7th we will be playing an 18 hole Par plus putting *************************** Sunday Mixed Golf Last Sunday we had 11 players competing on the day playing a 2 person Ambrose event. We drew partners on the day with one team of 3. New friends were made as we played 12 holes. Winners were Chris, Troy and Jim. They scored vouchers and new balls.

with 58 veterans arriving at the Royal Molong for the day. Golf and the company were most enjoyable.

Thank you to the golf ladies who served a delicious morning tea and lunch which I and members thank them for. Without our loyal volunteers we would not be able to conduct these special events.

Sincere thanks to Scott, Kerry, Erin, Drew, Roger & Dave for their efforts getting the course ready after Friday afternoon’s storm which saw dry sticks and two trees blown everywhere. Winners on the day were Mark 1st, Scott 2nd and Roger 3rd.

Next Sunday Golf Tee-Off 8.30 9.00 a.m. as daylight saving starts.

Event decided on the day. Hope to see you there.
