Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2019
"We invite you to walk with us in a movement of the Australian people for a better future. The Indigenous voice of this country is over 65,000 plus years old. They are the first words spoken on this continent. Languages that passed down lore, culture and knowledge for over millennia. They are precious to our nation. It’s that Indigenous voice that include know-how, practices, skills and innovations - found in a wide variety of contexts, such as agricultural, scientific, technical, ecological and medicinal fields, as well as biodiversity-related knowledge. They are words connecting us to country, an understanding of country and of a people who are
the oldest continuing culture on the planet. And with 2019 being celebrated as the United Nations International Year of Indigenous Languages, it’s time for our knowledge to be heard through our voice." For generations, we have sought recognition of our unique place in Australian history and society today. We need to be the architects of our lives and futures. For generations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have looked for significant and lasting change.
Mi-Kaisha Masella has been chosen as the 2019 NAIDOC Youth of the Year. "I use the P.7 - Indigenous women emerging medium of song to share strength and hope and to celebrate the unbreakable ancient through song. connections we have with each other and with our culture."

The Woolshed supporting Adagio Mills (Orange) and agribiz producers through the drought
Bank Street business owner, Donna Carlson of The Molong Woolshed (next door to the Express office) is throwing her support behind Nadine and Andrew Hulme of the Adagio Mills (Orange) who have been featured in the Orange media this week. "The drought is tough on everyone" said Donna. "From the local wool and alpaca producers to agribiz value-adding businesses, retail shops, towns like Molong, and local communities." "We are all in this long drought together and it's important that we help and support each other as much as we can." Not one to sit back and do nothing - Donna has paid for this space in the Molong Express to promote and support Adagio Mills - who have had to reduce their employee numbers to 3 and finding the current times very tough!. "They make a really good product" said Donna. "I am proud to specialise in Australian Made and Manufactured items in my shop that have been made out of Australian grown fibres - and grown so close to home".
Packing hardware achieves Rugby Tour Orange Emus Rugby Union Under 15’s team are spending their school holidays in Molong helping to pack stock once housed in what was formerly known as Minna Murra Home Hardware in Bank Street. With the long awaited sale of the building to new owners, the remaining stock had to be packed, loaded and returned to Mitre 10. A huge task! Along came the U15’s who needed to raise $’s for their planned tour to New Zealand to compete against same age rugby players. Assisted by Emus RU club officials and senior players - the U15’s have been kept busy loading up everything from screws, nails, bolts, shovels etc to return to Mitre 10. Let’s hope we will see the doors and gates reopen (soon) to this much needed and missed iconic hardware business in Molong.
