BHARAT LOK SHIKSHA PARISHAD Bharat Lok Shiksha Parishad (BLSP) was founded in the Year 2000 to accelerate EKAL ABHIYAN. BLSP is one of the orgnisations under Ekal Abhiyan. It runs Ekal Vidyalayas in the area of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Jammu & Kashmir States.

BLSP is committed for bringing Rural / Tribal brethren into the main stream of national progress.

The tribals have talents, native wisdom and tremendous energy. But no education, no health care, no development knocks at their door!!

EKAL VIDYALAYA The genesis of the word EKAL lines in the concept of one teacher one school’ Ekal Vidyalaya ‘ are run in remote rural and tribal villages which hane remained deprived mostly due to their locational disadvantage .these schools provide free, non-formal education to the children . 99,209 Ekal Vidyalayas are operating throughout the country as on 30th September, 2019 in these schools, over 26,89,211 Lakh Childrens are studing.

SALIENT FEATURES OF EKAL VIDYALAYA:

• One School, One Village, One Teacher.

• 25-30 students of 6 to 14 years age group.

• Flexible 2.5 to 3 hours school timing for about 22 days per month.

• School runs in chaupal/under a tree/in temple /in village courtyard or at teacher’s home.

• Teacher - a local youth preferably a female, with minimum 10th grade education.

• Students divided into three groups based on their capability on basis of primary evaluation • Learning with the help of books, crafts, games, songs, stories, art etc.

• School Curriculum covers reading, writing, arithmetic, general knowledge, basic science, health and hygiene awareness, moral education, local sports, craft and creativity.

• Ownership is taken by Gram Samity which makes school functional and sustainable.
