An overview of the Kidney Function Test The kidneys play a crucial role in detoxifying the body by getting rid of all the waste and the extra fluid that the body accumulates. The kidneys also help in maintaining a fine balance of various minerals such as sodium, calcium, phosphorus etc. and water in the body. A malfunction of the kidneys can, thus, lead to various critical health conditions.

In order to avoid malfunction of the kidneys and take preventive measures at the earliest, medical practitioners often advise the kidney function test which helps them determine the health of the organ. Their evaluation is usually based on two parameters, one that checks whether the kidneys are properly filtering the waste and the second which evaluates whether the kidneys are passing proteins into the urine.

Types of Kidney Function Test The Kidney Function Test is not a single test but a battery of tests done together in order to evaluate various health conditions. The various types of tests included here are as follows:
