VAN HASSELT FARMING RETAINS MIYUKI KEORI MOHAIR TROPHY! The annual Miyuki Keori Mohair Trophy was held at the Mohair HeadQuarters in Port Elizabeth. The President of Miyuki Keori Company, Mr. Kiyoshi Okumura attended the Miyuki Keori Mohair Trophy to address the finalists in his opening speech before announcing the winners in their categories. The long standing competition launched by the Japanese manufacturers and sales of men’s luxury textile fabrics, Miyuki Keori Company limited gives recognition to South African mohair producers for their enduring efforts to maintain and improve on the presentation and quality of the South African mohair clip. During the Japanese summer season, Mohair is the suiting fabric of choice, not only because of the obvious characteristics such as the beautiful lustre and crease resistance of the fibre, but ultimately the climate controlling quality that only a natural fibre can offer. Mr. Andrew Laing in his opening speech at the award ceremony emphasised that it is refreshing to notice that three of the six

finalists were from the Western Cape region and it was also very pleasing to see that three of the attending finalists were young producers from the next generation. Gay & Jordi van Hasselt, winners of the Grand Champion Miyuki Keori Mohair Trophy won this prize for the fourth time. President Okumura, who passionately refers to mohair as the most unique fibre in the world, proudly proclaims South African producers as the leaders in Mohair production.
